When I was a young man and hunting in my first deer season, I asked my youth pastor, who was a bit of a hillbilly, how to gut a deer. He said "well, just open him up and take everything out".
Way better than entire articles and diagrams with dotted lines everywhere on the deer.

Become super aware of the events that occur immediately after the shot- I know, it’s easy to say, and hard to do, especially on your first few deer, but Watch, Listen, and calmly burn into your mind what you see and hear.
