I had a weatherby 270 with a beautiful wood stock that kicked more than it should have. I put a game scout on it and the thing was downright comfy. I later put that same stock on a 300wm vanguard I got for $250 and it didn’t feel that much worse than the 270 did with that same stock. I say cut the 300 down to 20” and thread it for suppressed hunting. Then get a quality gamescout stock with a better pad. You’ll be a much happier person. You might be surprised how a stock can improve felt recoil when it is shaped and fitted appropriately.
Im not seeing the benefit in rebarreling like others have said. They’re all going to feel roughly the same as far as recoil is concerned.
