I like the 14x NL as a complement to a 10x best.

The 12x NL is a better compromise for general use than the 14x NL, although I prefer a 10x even more for general use. This is likely because I spend more time with my binocular handheld than not.

For the poster that wanted a 95% tripod 5% handheld binocular the 14x NL is the way to go. It is definitely good enough in the hand for 5% use.
Good to know!

I have been contemplating 12s or 14s for a few months but planning to pick up the 14s. Hunting Coues in Sonora 2026. I currently have some viper 10s on my chest. Will hopefully upgrade those in the future to a 8-10x LRF or IS… Or a combo if that hits the market
Coues hunting with NL 12's are great but the 14's are even better. I found myself preferring my 12's over my SLC 15's because of the FOV but the 14x take the clarity and magnification to another level

I ran them for 2 years and couldn’t disagree more, I ran 12s on tripods for years and the increased details gave up nothing to the slc 15s.

I’m running el range 8x32s and 14s now.

Very nice observation. Thanks for tip

I'm late to the party....but have some insight. Bought the NL 10s early and love them. Needed more juice occasionally and kicked around lots of ideas (big eyes, SLC 15s, Meopta) before I heard NL 14s were coming... Bought the STC as a stop gap. The 14s showed up and changed my world. Traded my STC very shortly after. Ride and die with the 10s on my chest and the 14s in my bag; tripod and all.

I'd like to think I need a spotter to score an elk or color a bear, but I'm not that cool.

I am liking the idea of using the 14s on clear cuts. Those black tail just seem to disappear and it’s hard to relocate them with my 10s. Makes me wonder if I have been missing deer that I might pick up with the 14s.
I've tested this in oregon coast range from a tripod. 10s to 14s, back to 10s. Its shocking the subtle ear flick you pick up with the 14s that you completely miss with 10s.

So many scenarios.

ELK: I'm not that particular TBH. I would be fine with 10x, 12x, no spotter. Decent rack and I'm good to go.
8x would probably be fine but I don't have those.

Mule Deer: I prefer the 12x NLs on chest and for general glassing. Spotter for detailed work and antler
assessment. Even with 12x sometimes I can't get the data I need to determine go or no go. I need the
spotter. I don't know if 14x would change that scenario? Weight differential between 14x NLs and my
spotter is 1 lb 4 oz. I'll take the weight penalty to get the data I need if I'm buck hunting. Example only, I don't have 14x NLs.

Have had my 12s for two years now and they are incredible. Just picked up the 14s to get more range on the tripod. Considering trading my 12s for 10x or 8x NLs. How are you feeling now with the 10s and 14s? I’m hunting desert/ chaparral terrain. I hunt Missouri whitetail and hunt turkeys all over too. Considering 8s for the thick vegetation. Torn on the 8s or 10s to trade for my 12s.

Can you notice a big difference in the magnification between the 12s and the 14s?

Magnification is definitely better but what really sets these two apart is the level of clarity and detail I’m seeing between the two. The 12s have been amazing. Not one thing I’d take away from them other than they are a great all-around piece. But if you want more, you can tell the difference between the two.

I’m considering trading my 12s for 10s on my chest and 14s for the tripod. Use the smaller ones when closing distance and in more dense cover like whitetail woods or turkey hunting.

I sold my nlpure 10’s for 14x50 imagine stabilization. The glass is not as nice and the field of view is smaller but when hand holding them the imagine stabilization makes them much more clearer than my 10x42. You won’t beat nl purrs for tripod use but man is imagine stabilization nice. It even seems to help in the wind on a tripod.

I went back and forth between either 8s or 10s on the chest to compliment my 14s for sometime. Landed on the 8s. Very happy with the combo. The 8s are very bright, so easy to handhold and the depth of field is just unreal. I will use both on a tripod and when ever I switch from one to the other it s WOW each time. Never did look through the 10s so my experience is just with 14s in the bag and 8s on the chest.

I have NO idea how to vote in your poll…12s do it all for me, replaced both 10-15 Duovids and 10 ELs. I am wrestling with the 14s and if I were to go in that direction I would want 10s to go with them.

I don’t have elk in my neck of the woods but I have heard guys saying 8s on an elk hunt are way more effective than you’d think. I have or had a great experience with spotting scopes so I usually just use one at the range and to snap a few pics in the field. So I figured having 8 or 10x would make more sense to pair with the 14s (which compared to zeiss 15x they are drastically more clear, comfortable and ergonomic.
