What would have happened if I would have shot this round?

Highly unlikely that nx8 shifted on a ride to Montana, you have something else going on. I had a rifle that could shoot 2moa and it was missing rifling.
Rem 700 actions are crap, trued or not. I've been there.

Buy a Defiance Anti or Classic for $1,000 or less
Buy a Ace or Bartlein 3 or 3B for $450 or less
buy a rokslide 5 port Ti brake, self timer $200

Take it to a good smith and have him chamber it in 300 prc and put it together for about $500
or better yet, 7 prc. Buy 7 prc ammo off the shelf almost anywhere.

I’m so confused on why these new expensive rifles with top of the line components suck so bad !
My 2 300wm off the shelf rifles 1. Savage 116 & 2. Winchester M70
Both shoot .5 - .75 and have been super hunting platforms for years and years
And both combined didn’t cost 1/2 the OP paid
I would rebarrel and start over with a reassemble and build it correctly
There is definitely something wrong in the platform
And F the 300RUM I would steer towards a 6.5-300 and shoot out to 500 like a freaking laser

The other person wasn't asking anyone what they think is a better cartridge, wasn't looking to get brow beat over shooting a 300RUM or looking to justify why he does. Is the desire to shoot a big magnum any less sportsman or somehow dumb vs those that desire to shoot big game with a 223? So what if he spent a ton of money on a set-up that isn't shooting well. That can happen with any rifle regardless the cartridge. I'm sure it will get figured out and corrected. Telling him to sell the rifle and start over......really?

Have you removed your action screws, cleaned and decreased them, and re-torqued with Loctite? If not, that’s the very first place I would start.

Decrease, clean and reset all your bases and rings., Do that second

Shoot a group without the suppressor. Shoot a group with the suppressor. Swap scopes, shoot a different group. That should dial it in pretty quick for you.

This. Make sure the barrel is tight too. Maybe try a couple different bullet/powder or ammo combos to make sure it just doesn't hate one of them. If it's still atrocious, send back to Bartlein.

Id probably start with the different scope to get that out of the way immediately too. Nightforce isn't immune to eff ups.

How's your magnum rifle shooting proficiency? How confident in your ability to shoot a 300 rum tight?

This thread.... don't waste money, get a savage axis, same- same.
Good luck OP, sounds like you are on the right track to rule out any scope or mount issues BEFORE making it Bartleins problem. Update this post please when you proceed.

I have a 26 nosler which is identical to the 6.5-300. It is a absolute laser but I needed something that'll lob heavy bullets decently quick across pretty nasty canyons. Country we hunt you want something heavy and that'll buck the wind more than a lighter laser. My 26 shoots lights out. 127s @ 3500 fps.

Yeah I would have done a few things different. That being said finding this round was kind of a cherry on top to the build lol. I called bartlein a week and half ago about it. Left a voicemail since they usually don't pick up. I don't doubt they'll take care of it. They've got a good reputation which is why I went with them.

Yeah tried different bullets powder. Tried h1000 and retumbo. 215 Berger and 225 eldm. Tried 87.5 gr -92 gr in .3 grain increments both powders both bullets. Not much better luck besides just around 1 moa for one group. But that's ignoring the 2 3 ft groups that were completely bizarre. Bartlein got back and said to send it back and they can work on it and if it's the scope they'll take care of nightforce warrantying it. I don't understand why people recommend selling it or just putting it in the safe as a collectors item. I guess have quality components with quality people that warranty and are of their word and make it right.

It always fascinates me how much customer service can make or break an interaction. I don't have anything against nosler but if they don't make an effort to "make it right" (it's literally just a bullet) than it kinda pushs .e over the edge already. Can't say I've had many good interactions with them. Quality customer service makes up for an underperforming product

That's nice of Bartlein. I'd probably try another scope before shipping it just to make sure because like others said, that kind of shift doesnt sound like a rifle issue.

Problem with ammo, here's a t shirt (free promotion for us) to push our ammo to others. Nice
This was my thought.

I ordered a pair of binos and it took 7-8 months to get them. I had called a handful of times and always got the run around up to and including "They are in my hand, going out today." Three months later I called and they asked what size of shirt I wanted? I said keep the shirt and just send the damn binos. I dont think the dude knew what to say back.

To OP.
I hope you get your issues figured out. Like many have stated, based on what you are saying is happening, I doubt its the gun. If Bartlein is willing to figure it out for you, I would let them do it.

I don’t make false claims or promises, if that’s what you’re implying.

You're one of the few, the proud, the honest.

But good luck selling a $4000 gun with “shoots like crap, all over the place, constant hassle. If you like zeroing your gun daily THIS ONES FOR YOU”

Most go the, “shoots great just going in a different direction” sales pitch route.
