We drew early archery in the Gila Wilderness, 9/1 - 9/15. This will be my 1st time elk hunting in early September. We’ll be going in early am on 8/31 (on foot, no stock) with 8 days of food, then coming out to the truck to restock for another 8 days. This will be my longest backcountry hunt to date and I am super pumped for it to get here!

Provided I don't have some kind of disaster with any of my subcontractors, I could theoretically hunt 19 days total. In a perfect world I hunt 2 days in CO, and 1 in NM ;) but I'd have to kill everything close to camp for that to happen ;)

I'll hunt elk as often as I can the entire season (I work 4-10s Sept - Dec for hunting) or until I notch my license, but the 14th to the 22nd covers my scheduled vacation time.

I'll be setting my job site up for 4 - 10's for CO and vacation for NM

Colorado- 20th-29th
Getting older decided to try to double up the next few years while I am still in good enough shape to make it happen.

Loveland, CO. was AZ.
8/26 thru 9/29 if necessary. Give myself 5 days ahead of start date (8/31 Colorado) to relax, set up camp, maybe fly fish a little bit. Then.... hit it. Good luck to all !!!

CPW makes that decision for me. Muzzleloader season is the 14th to the 22nd. I'll be up there on the 12th to scout.

I have a cousin coming out from Michigan for his first elk hunt the first two weeks of archery, so I will try to get up there for a few days to call for him.

Fingers crossed I’ll be in the mountains for the Colorado archery opener up to 10 days.

Hunting dates in Colorado for OTC 21-29 September. Living on the Atlantic Ocean with two kids under three, best I can do. I'd like to be out there early, in the middle, and everywhere in between but i got some years before I can do that.

After striking out on tags for 5 other states, I'm excited to hit some new ground possibly across a couple units. Praying that there are less guys than i ran into last year, but knowing there will be more!
