What to you is "WILDERNESS".......???

A wilderness area ha ha. It’s always been areas like the frank church , selway and bob marshal for me. Somewhere that is truly designated wilderness no motorized anything etc. I name those 3 because those are the ones I have been in.

I definitely think Arctic National Wildlife Refuge fits my definition of what wilderness is and its one of my favorite places to hunt. Generally everywhere I sheep hunt is quite wild as well.

Hrmm.. I dunno.... Real Wilderness? Maybe someplace far enough away from Man's influence and roads and and pressure that a person can't traverse that much distance in a single day on foot to get into there?

Anywhere that is mapped, isn't wilderness.

Some moons and planets are mapped

I used to ferry small single engine planes between Alaska and Western lower 48 states. If flying down the coast or inland, that describes far more then 99% of the wilderness.
I agree with what you stated and I meant accessible by ground vehicles... I have a fair amount of drop hunts myself between Idaho and AK.

In the East, you could be in for a surprise if you are seeking solitude in the wilderness. This was what I found at an Eastern wilderness trailhead a couple summers ago.

True, there is not a Wilderness east of the big river in the US. It is only a designation given to stop the harvesting of trees!

Off trail
Can't hear or see roads, civilization etc
No cell reception
Far enough in staying the night is almost necessary
As few people as possible
Little to no sign of purple having been there
