I guess I’d better get a divorcetell folks that if they are speaking to you they need to speak up.....once. After that I ignore them.
Can you use your insurance? I got United Healthcare-Sharp Community and my hearing aids were covered after getting a referral from my ears and nose physician.Jeez, amazing what you discuss as you age.
I figured I would post this here even though hearing loss affects younger folks also.
So..........without breaking the bank or selling off your gun collection, anyone have experience with affordable and cheaper hearing aids that you are happy with??
It's mind-boggling what some of them cost.

When I turn mine off it's called wife mode.
I think some of your experience is just the way they work. Unfortunately there is no magic filter to pick up the speech you want other than your own brain. Crowded spaces with lots of noise are the hardest thing to hear individual speech. If you listen to a recording, it’s all about the same level and when you are in the space, your brain filters out who you are talking with using other clues. From talking to audiologists, one solution is to use a remote mic and either place it on the table or give it to the other person at the table.I got my first good pair at Costco a few moths ago, I tried a couple of the Amazon sets but all they did was squeal badly.
The Costco 9040 series were great at first but after several visits to Costco for excessive back round noise I turned them in for a refund.
I would be in a restaurant with family or friends and all I could here was everything in the back ground and could hardly hear the people I was talking to.
I have ordered a set of Jabra's, they will be here in a couple of days, I will report back after I use them for a week or so.
