What options do I have?

If your current 270 Win is accurate, I do not think you will see much advantage going to a 6.5 PRC, 280AI, etc. The 270, with the proper bullet, may cover all your needs.

Both valid and good suggestions biggest reason for the .270 getting rebarreled is it’s got a shit ton of rounds through it plus it’s got the factory sporter barrel and I can’t thread it and shoot it suppressed.

I’m also concerned about feeding issues and it’s a blind magezine
There are a lot of advantages to starting with a rifle with the correct bolt face and magazine, but I’m like you and like to make something more useful out what I have.

I wouldn’t replace the bolt head, but just have it opened up for the bigger cartridge. The shape and design of the extractor make this a very simple lathe job. Bore it, reassemble with correct factory exxtractor, done. The advantage to keeping the bolt head that works just fine is there’s no question about timing of the bolt, firing pin stick out, or whatever. I don’t know anything about Savages, but sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.

You’d be lucky if the internal magazine can be modified so the magazine and follower will need to be sourced. Are the feed rails on the receiver compatible with the PRC? Sometimes a simple internal magazine swap isn’t so simple. Hawkins has a whole line of replacement internal magazines for Remington guys who are struggling with it. I would at least find someone who has done the same conversion, maybe on the savage fan site.

Couldn’t you just sell it and buy the same rifle in 7 mag and have that rebarreled? That’s often the least costly.

Yeah in going down this road further I’m going to just get it rebarelled in .270 win and go pick up the compact bergara to many variables in this conversion that could get higher priced than a new rifle
