no experience with the revic mentioned above, so I won’t opine there.
Electronics are consumables. They WILL fail, they WILL go down at some point. It’s not if, it’s when. And when they do, customer support is a big deal. Maven and Vortex have a lifetime guarantee on their electronics, and not everyone does. To me, that peace of mind on a product with a very finite lifespan means a lot.
I’ve heard, from sources with borderline zero authority, that vortex SUPPOSEDLY poached one of Leica’s lead rangefinder designers/engineers, and that’s where their new rangefinder lines came from was that guy. I have no clue if it’s true, but I don’t care, because ours have been great. My dad has the Razor 4k, I have the Viper 3k, and a brother and a cousin both have the Diamondback 2k since they were released in 2022. We’ve been impressed with the speed, accuracy, and consistency unit to unit and line to line. They all read the same distance when the same items are ranged, and they all come back lightning fast. They have been across the West, hunting and shooting in all types of field conditions and weather conditions. They work in heat and subzero, dry and wet, in field and on range, and any failures to perform were due to the fact that batteries were dead, or the distances were beyond the capabilities of the rangefinders (all of which have surpassed the advertised maximum rangeable distances). I can’t say the same about our Kahles units, or Sigs, or even an old Vortex Ranger 1800, all of which were GROSSLY underwhelming and underperforming (especially the Kahles and Sig units).
To clarify, I’m not a vortex fanboy. My RF is one of 2 remaining vortex optics in my gear load out (the other being a pair of discontinued Vulture 15’s I use every now and again, maybe one hunt per year). I don’t use any other vortex products with any type of consistency. But I’ll happily use and recommend their rangefinders.
