What is your favorite long range rifle setup?

More info on the 6 PRC please! What load are you shooting with it?
It’s a sweet shooter!! I’m currently shooting a 108 ELDM at 3250fps with 53gr. H4831SC. 24” Bartlein Rem Varmint 7.5 twist.

I have have a 9 twist barrel to play some of the lighter bullets during the off season

That’s a hard question. I’ve had some serious shooters over the years. I have three that come to mind.

My first real long range hammer was a custom:
Stiller
300wm built by LRI (my 248 mod 1 chamber)
Bartlein 26” M24 barrel
Pre 2014 AX Chassis

Current rifle is
Alamo precision built
30nosler
Definace anti
Proof sendero 26”
Ag adjustable hunter

And the rifle in a class of its own…
Barrett MRAD IN 338 Lapua
Nightforce NSX 3-15 FFP

Where did you get a FFP NXS 3-15?

My current long range set up is a nosler mod. 48 long range carbon in 300 wm. I have had good success out to 1200 yards on steel with this rifle shooting handloaded 190 grn nosler acubonds and also 178 grn Hornady eldx. I don't shoot at game past 500 yards simply because I enjoy the stalk and the hunt honestly 99% of my shots are under 300 yards. And I typically shoot 180 grn acubond loads. I have been getting 1/2 moa accuracy. I have been testing the 200 grn federal terminal ascent this year with good results. I get about 3/4 moa with it and it hits hard and has good weight retention. I don't see it being as good of a long range shooting load as my others but it will hunt for sure.

I’ve tried the Bix and Andy Dakota and didn’t care for it much. Not sure how many triggers they have, I’m sure they have better triggers. I am slowly switching everything to TT diamonds now.

I've had a few, the one I somewhat regret was a 30 Nosler.
All by APR with TT's.

30 Nosler, Mk5, Def Tenacity, AG stock, 26 inch muller in a 10 twist with a Vias radial brake. Shot the 215 and 230s great.

Currently a 7 Saum, MK5 Def An-Ti, AG, SSR 4 port Ti brake 20 inch muller in an 8.5 twist running 180 hybrids. Going to start testing the 155 Hammers soon for a short to mid range home option.

Ordered a 338 RUM, Trigicon Tenmile, Def Classic, 26 inch 9 twist Bart, SSR 5 port Ti brake, Manners. Looking to run 250-300s; Berger, SMK and Super Bull Dozers.

Savage 110 high country 300win mag
EGW rail
Vortex precision rings
Vortex razor lht 3-15 x50
Omega 300
Unknown munitions load developed 200gr lrx 3056fps
Hey, lurking around in the search function I came cross this post of yours. make it 6.5 PRC and we essentially have the same rifle down to the rings and scope.

I'm new to Savage and am wanting little more out of the stock. is yours still in its Savage stock?

I need a rabbit hole to get down if you have any leads for hunting/ hunting hybrid stocks...

thanks!

I'm still using a 700LA that's on its third barrel with a long throat 7mm RM barrel (Krieger wrapped by Frozen Fiber before Proof was mainstream), sitting in a Manners LRH. Cans have gone from SiCo Hybrid 46, to KGM R30K, to SiCo Scythe Ti. I've swapped between a NF ATACR 4-16x42mm and NX-8 4-32x50mm and settled on the NX-8IMG_20241231_171019_181.webp

This rifle is still in the savage stock. Has since been stripped and custom coated with a matching scythe. I have a couple savages in other stocks. The mesa with adjustable comb seems popular. But I have become accustomed to the savage stock. I like the way it feels vs other rifles. And prefer it usually. There is a rokstock also available for these. This is one sporting a mesa.

Zermatt TL3
22” 6CM Proof Carbon
KRG Bravo
Trigger Tech Diamond
TBAC Ultra 7
MDT Ckyepod
Area 419 Hunt rings
Vortex AMG 6-24x50

My caliber progression the last few years has been 300 WSM, 6.5 PRC and now 6 CM. Don’t think I’ll be changing from the 6 for quite awhile.

Old school rifle with a good barrel shoots as good as anything I’ve ever owned. An old Remington action, not trued since it’s pretty straight as is, a classic stock, Timney 2 lb trigger, and 26” 7 mag barrel. Nightforce base with the built in recoil lug, glued on. Leupold Mark 4 rings and 6x, 8x, or 12x fixed scope. If we’re smoking coyotes or antelope I like the 12x. Most mostly open areas are easily hunted with the 8x and mixed timber and open areas get the 6x.

Other than the rings/base the formula hasn’t changed for me since 1990.
