Just got the one I would grab back from the smith. .300 win mag. Howa long action. Proof sendero 24” carbon 1:9 twist. Stockys VG 2 stock. SRS ss pro 4 brake.

Nightforce Atac-r 4-16x42. 9pbs 4 ounces all in, still haven’t decided on a bipod yet though so likely closer to 10lbs before it’s done.

Shooting 215 grain Berger hybrids at under moa and 2925 fps. Only 22 rounds through it so far so trying to get to a 1/2 minute gun but happy w it so far.

Just packed it into a Pelican case for a trip to AZ to hunt coues deer.

R700 action, nitrided (trued and all that)
Bartlein 16.5" barrel, sendero profile, threaded 5/8-24 with a TBAC CB mount, cerakoted
KRG X-Ray chassis, overmolded cheekpiece, MDT magazine, and RRS universal R-Lock rail along the whole fore end
Huber two-stage trigger, 2 pounds exactly.
Vortex LHT 4.5-22, ARC rings, Aadland scope caps
Atlas CAL bipod with SC-ARC R-Lock attachment method, also bringing leg extensions with spikes
TBAC Ultra-9 Gen 1, Armageddon gear suppressor cover

To be fair that's my current favorite because it's such a proven rig. I need to put a Huber on my Mausingfield/Proof carbon barrel setup, switch the LHT over to it, and see how that rig shoots too. I just had this hunt coming up so I went with getting ol' reliable operational again but I do hope/expect that the Mausingfield barreled action could become my favorite as long as it shoots too.

Love the 7 Saum, what velocities are you getting with the 20 inches?

I settled on a load that favored accuracy and really consistent speeds over chasing maximum velocity. Could have probably spent more time on it but I hate reloading these days. I use 2765 FPS when calculating ballistics on this rifle.

Thanks, plenty of juice to go far! Awesome rig.

That’s a hard question. I’ve had some serious shooters over the years. I have three that come to mind.

My first real long range hammer was a custom:
Stiller
300wm built by LRI (my 248 mod 1 chamber)
Bartlein 26” M24 barrel
Pre 2014 AX Chassis

Current rifle is
Alamo precision built
30nosler
Definace anti
Proof sendero 26”
Ag adjustable hunter

And the rifle in a class of its own…
Barrett MRAD IN 338 Lapua
Nightforce NSX 3-15 FFP

Bergara Ridge 7mm RM (2019ish, before the current issues with QC stuff)

180 Berger hybrid at 2850 (mild load, 8 firings on Nosler brass no problems)

LRHS in Mt Tech rings

Ugly ass factory stock with taped on cheek riser and vert-ish grip, carbon arrow shafts epoxied in the forend, etc

Ross Schuler brake (now an AB Raptor 6)

It's right at 11 lbs loaded, with sling and brake. 11.5ish with the can.

Ugly and not expensive, but man it shoots.

I kind of like that about it. I get more enjoyment than I probably should, when a high dollar rig sets up next to me, shooting the targets they are trying to hit. Probably says something not great about my character, but it is fun.

It proves the point that you don’t need a 5k rig to shoot well.
I just picked up a Rem 700 SPS tactical in 223 with a 16.5 inch barrel, in part from what I’ve learn here. Took it out this weekend and it shoots 3/4 MOa with factory 73 gr ELDM 🤣
