My new hells canyon ambush in 28 nos is a shooter! I mounted up a big zeiss 6-24 in some lapped in rings. My first handloads punched a nice .3" group! Looking for a good bipod setup. Mine came with the factory rail and the rugged ridge system looks appealing?

I have a rare lefty HC Mcmillan in 28 Nosler. I went w the Timney. The mcarbo was terribly inconsistent in my rifle. DA42E519-A08C-4003-81C8-40849410CE3B.jpeg

I went with the pro over the HC. Wanted the carbon fiber stock. 6.5 CM with a VX5HD 3-15×44 scope. Seems to be shooting good. Upgraded to a Javelin bipod.

I've got the Pro Tungsten 300 WSM with the Tally lightweight rings and Leupold mark 5HD.
It's incredibly light and surprising little kick.
Just started breaking it in, it's shooting great out of the box!
No bipod for me, I carry the Primos trigger stick -Jim Schocky version.

You're going to love this model!!!

Update:
Added the Mcarbo spring, quite happy with the results!
Settled in with the 180gr. Accubonds.

This setup was repeatably impressive at 600yds, using only a duffel bag for support.

field test = 1 bull elk - dropped in his tracks

Are the barrels the same in both the Pro and Hells Canyon? Is the only difference the stock and bolt handle?

I’m interested for the right price. 300 WSM?

Well long story short, everything I own is stuck in Alaska. Was supposed to be flying up to drive the truck and trailer down May 1st, but with the 14 day quarantine in state, it’s not looking good. It may be late summer before I get it here. Might have a nice Pro by then!

Keep me posted. I’m in no hurry. Good luck and be safe!

Thinking of pulling the trigger on an xbolt, question on rings. Wondering if medium rings would be high enough clearance for a 30mm scope tube with a 50mm objective? Does anyone run this size scope do medium rings clear?

Yes I have medium rings on both my Brownings, one is a Speed the other is a Max long range. I'm using Talley's. Be careful when you tighten them down, Browning does not specify a torque, they just state snug. The threads are very shallow and so far with Loctite and snug no issues. I'm using 50 mm scopes with 30mm tubes.

I run a browning hells canyon long range in 300 win mag with a Leupold vx-5HD 4-20x52 mm on Talley 20 MOA picatinny with vortex precision matched .92” rings. I also occasionally use a Harris bipod. I have two loads I like. One I use when I can find H-1000 one when I can’t. Best load is H-1000 pushing Berger 215s. If I do I my part groups .3inches at 200 yards consistently. Back up load is imr 7828ssc pushing Berger 210s. Very similar accuracy. Both loaded to mag length.

Freebear, I am trying to tighten up my Berger 215 load. I keep getting two shots to touch but the 3rd is off 1/2 -3/4 of an inch away. I am using 75.5 g H1000. What overall length are you seating them at? I am at magazine length 3.6".

I record everything with o-give but measuring with calipers OAL is about 3.665. I jump it at exactly .010 which is just barely under mag length for me. I seat based on jump rather oal. I have had the most luck with 76.5 gr h-1000. I also set neck tension at .02 and I am pretty meticulous with brass prep.

Also as is common sense anybody reading this make sure you work up to this load just because it works safely in my gun doesn’t mean it will do the same for you.
