What is the “trail weight” of your spotting scope and tripod set up.

I have some cheapo spotting scopes I use on occasion but nothing really good. I am thinking about taking the spotting scope plunge this year and Trying to get some idea of how much weight most people are hauling into the woods as I consider options.

Looking at a few scope and tripod combos it seems like it could add up fast. A swaro 65 ATX (55oz) on an outdoorsman medium tripod (33oz) with a cover and a few accessories could get to 6-7 pounds fast. Add binos and that around 10 pounds of glassing gear.

So roksliders, how much spotting scope rig weight are you hauling into the woods on a typical hunt?

For the majority of my trips/hunts I'm running:
Swaro EL Range 10x42 in a FHF Harness with Outdoorsmans tall bino adapter. 46oz
Swaro STS 20-60x65mm. 46oz
Sirui T-1205x tripod with Outdoorsmans pan head. 40oz
Total: 8.25lbs

Depending on the hunt I will add in a set of Swaro SLC 15x56s at 47oz but those are usually day hunts and rarely make the cut if I'm packing in.

I’m at 88 oz. for Swaro 20-60x80 HD w/soft case and Slik mini tripod. I just picked up a Red Mountain tripod that would cut this wt. down to 65 oz. but I haven’t had a chance to use it, so don’t know if it’s going to work for me or not. I’ve been looking at that light wt. Kowa as well, but I have yet to lay my hands on one.

Optics add up but I enjoy using them and they are a critical tool for most of the hunting I do.

I picked up one of camerlands pro master tripods. Seems very good but it is a bit heavier than advertised. Mine comes in at 43.5 oz.

Now I need to look into scopes.
