Looking to buy my first ML. I will make in Nevada legal.

What is a the tikka equivalent? I feel like I want something the shoot well but I don't need a full custom epically due to the open site requirement.

Looking for a .45 cal

My vote would be the T/C Encore, but production has been on hiatus and I'm not sure when it will resume.

There are some more modern inline muzzy options in a factory package these days, but the prices are not far off from custom yet.

I went with an Accura. Kind of feel like the easy button for muzzleloader is more about the powder, though (Blackhorn!)

If you're limited to open sights, there are some good threads about that too. Aperture sights work for me, but I needed to replace the rear ramp to get enough elevation travel.

Cva if you want support now. Knight makes a good rifle. T/C could be good if they were to actually make something again. But if you needed a part good luck

Supposedly the first shipment from the new T/C has been sent out. Should start seeing encores on the shelves soon.

I have a T/C Omega I bought 25 years ago. Looking forward to using it this season after many years in the safe… it’s a simple, lightweight, well-built and accurate muzzleloader.

I have a T/C Encore that I scammed off a buddy 15 years ago. I have a ton of confidence in its ability out beyond 200 yards. The key I found was treating a muzzleloader like you would reload a rifle cartridge. I use loose powder (Jim Shockey Gold has been a good to me) and weigh it all. Also pay attention to the primers. Each brand effects the accuracy differently. Unfortunately for me Michigan no longer has a muzzleloader season, hoping to use it out west soon.

i run and accura but i will save my pennies and buy and encore when they hit shelves. the new owner of TC is a motivated guy. hes got a youtube channel now and has been showing progress on getting the plant up and going.

I will say, .45cal is going to limit you on where you can hunt. they are not legal everywhere whereas the 50 is legal everywhere. you can shoot a .45cal sabot in your .50cal and it will be accurate.

I dont know what TC will have as far as accessories, but cva has the idaho legal breach plug you can swap out if you wanted to hunt out of state ever.

ML tags are generally easier to draw especially when applying out of state so consider that caliber if you even think you'd apply outside of NV.

Check out No Excuses Bullets. They are big boys but if you search them here on the forum youll see how much guys love them. order a sizing kit and then some pretty affordable and good shooting bullets.

If you can find an old stock CVA accura with attached ramrod thats what I would do. The new models have a detached, collapsible carbon fiber ramrod that I hate. Whatever accuracy benefit that gives you isn't noticeable within the distances I shoot (open sights required). I would opt for faster reloading any day and keep my shot distances reasonable.

I mean you could build one off a Tikka using the Hankins Ignition System.

i called the guys down at arrowhead muzzleloaders and they said it's not possible to build a muzzleloader on a tikka action. they didn't give a reason why other than "we looked into it in the past, and it couldn't be done". my very uneducated guess would be the barrel tenon is too small.

ive had really good luck with my CVA accura w/ BH 209. the one issue i've had with it was when it got rained on and the trigger/hammer springs started rusting. very messy and difficult process to remove and reinstall.

thats what im running and i love it. i have the western precision sight setup on it and its so light and nimble. and the ramrod on the gun is sooooo nice. ive been tempted to get something new in the past but dont want to the detached rod.
