What is the single most important thing you will do in 2025 to enjoy your time outside more?

trying to be healthier, down 25 lbs since Halloween doing keto. trying to stick with it long term and only cheat on vacations. I'm rly bad about processed food and sugar and its the only way I can say no to crap. at 38 I'm worried about that catching up with me. getting on the scale everyday is satisfying..

go camping more with family. got a bigger tent and camp grill and stove and other stuff to keep my wife and kid comfy/happy. already did one trip last month on haleakala and got another lined up in march.

trying to surf more with my 4yo. he stood up for the first time the other day (with me paddling on the back of the long board). he got up 6 times and was stoked. were about to go out in a couple more hours at sunset.

Also bought him a cricket for his bday in april and plan on getting him going at the range this year.

Just overall trying to enjoys the outdoors more with my family

Drop 15 lbs and try to keep it off this time. Basically eat cleaner and workout a bit more.

As I recover from a serious, unexpected health crisis, my priorities are clearly realigned. A deeper relationship with Him, followed closely by more time with my wife and kids and less time chasing a dollar. If it’s outdoors and hunting, great, but memories with my family will win out. Leaving this Earth at 46 with kids in high school nearly happened…..

I'm pretty fit (5-10 180#, muscular), but not the best cardio shape I could be in, working on that.

I've got 2 bow hunts planned, first year bow hunting. I enjoyed pushing myself and trying new stuff. Both are also for new species. Bear and sheep.

Getting ahead at work will make my ‘25 seasons more enjoyable. I’m blessed to have a lot of flexibility in theory (unlimited PTO! ), and hunting options in CO and WY that “should” allow me to hunt and work in a happy mix for multiple tags. I’ve tried it the past few years, but combined with 3 kids 5 and under, it’s been controlled chaos at best. I think I’ve broken down 5 or 6 animals in the past three years with earbuds during work calls; only one slip up where corporate saw a dead deer . Now that the kids are a bit older, I think I can clear some real time on my schedule to enjoy my hunts vs just “squeezing them in” and constantly feeling like I’m rushing.

Take the motorhome to the Boston area, then tour Boston with my 2 adult sons and their wives for a week or so in mid September. Lots of history there. Riding my Tennessee Walker horse a bit more is high on the list too.

Many days fishing with the family. Whether it's on the pontoon or setting up a day camp on the bank, that's where my wife and kids are happy. We already have 4 nights booked at a camp a Jackson lake in Grand Teton in the first half of June.

I also want to take my wife on a backcountry elk hunt/camp.

None of them are perfect!!!!!!!!!!!! Neither are we.

There are many websites that have these "X" number of questions, 200-500, go through those while you are sitting around your place or hers. Anything from budgets, finances, church, kids, family traits, personality, work/life balance or lack there of, etc.

Get both of you out of your comfort zones and pay attention to the reactions. (me? It's traffic, being around a lot of people, being around people I don't know, having me work on computer applications I know nothing about and giving me a deadline - wife's business stuff ---- being late to anything; how does she react to my reactions in all this? Is it comfort, or telling me how dumb I am and how easy it is to do all the above)?

Make sure both of you have a real relationship with Him, do you pray together? Statistics say that ~50% of marriages end in divorce. ~26% of couples who go to church together end in divorce. And 1/1,500 of marriages where couples pray together end in divorce.

I've been in several DISC personality training sessions with Dr. Robert Rohm, one thing really stood out from all those sessions. He had us all get into our little groups, then, he pointed opposite of each group and stated that our mates were there. He used the example that our mates are opposite of us so that we have a helper in things we are not good at to make us whole. One may be a servant, the other opposite is dominant. One may be outgoing and a people person, the other reserved and cautious. The two make one. My wife and I (dominant and serving) both have a secondary in cautious and reserved. That's why God gave us Eve, a helper, it wasn't "good," we needed a helper in areas we are weak.

This is the year to start being more patient with those along to fly fish, hunt or just shoot. I’m naturally not tolerant of anyone happy to half ass what they are doing.

Rather than packing great food for the day I’ll eat their poorly thought out and rushed menu of mediocre and weird snacks. Rather than making great bbq I’ll join one of the boys to ignore smoker temps, pull meat at the wrong time, complain about tough the brisket is and tell stories about how hard it is to get good bbq and how we should just go out to eat.

Rather than splitting up completely to leap frog a stream, I’ll hang back, listening to stories of how mean management is, how hard it is to work 40 hrs, excuses why a certain girlfriend is too hung over to actually join us and bitch about her life, fail to keep dry flies dry or actively change anything out to actually catch fish. I want to enjoy fishing with a short leader that should have been replaced 4 hours ago.

At the range I’ve been asked by an adult to learn how to shoot and it’s a favor to bite my tongue and be happy with a semi motivated guy looking for short cuts at every stage of putting a rifle together and shooting it. Rather than coach I’m just going to be along for the ride to watch the struggle bus in action, because they already know everything.

One of the kids wants to get better at mule deer hunting, as long as we don’t have to glass a lot, scout before the season, hunt in bad weather, or be careful working ridges, or actually shoot a long range rifle. Patience.

Yeah, to those scenarios, may patience runs closer to Donald Duck's. However, I have a lot of patience with little ones, odd.
