What is Federal paying to shill for 7 backcountry?

Seems like YouTube is amuck with every influencer shilling the same talking points on 7mm Backcountry. Or maybe it’s just the algorithms targeting me. I’d like it to be successful but the shear volume of these all at once is pretty cringe.

PS Federal, I’d like some of the action for starting this thread ;)

Anybody here using it?
I'd trust you all before YT.

And I can't afford to switch again!
I'm already buying those small rounds that lack "authority and wallop 💣

Best two videos on it I feel like. Worth the listen driving to work. Bottom video is the dry data, and top is the discussion.

They’re getting cartridges like the 170gr Terminal ascent at 3060fps from a 22” barrel. From a 16” it’s around 2,900fps.

195gr’s were coming in at 2,850 from the 22” and like 2,770 from the 16” barrel.

So, with the higher pressure’s they’re achieving, you’ve got velocities capable of pushing these high BC 7mm bullets out to far distances and maintaining velocity better than standard magnum cartridges. From short barrels.

At least that’s what I’m understanding.

Trying to create an unnecessary market. I miss the days the folks only had 3006, 270. 30-30, 243, etc. All still great rounds...

100% my opinion too!

Yeah i know there may be faster, less drop, softer shooting rounds out there than these trusty "old" cartridges, but its hard for me to go against something thats worked for 100+ yrs and killed dang near everything on the planet.

Love my standard cartridge rifles:

223, 243, 308, 30-06 & 300 Win Mag

Everything I need, nothing I dont, does the jobs I want and need and can cover PLENTY of different game animals across the spectrum.

delete history and don't click on 7bc vids or open in a private browser session

Probably the same amount Sierra is paying Rokslide for the 77gr TMK! 🤣

Coming up with a new case material and concept is way to far out there….. but improving bullet construction and reliability is perfectly fine to make being able to shoot game with smaller calibers is perfectly fine??? C’mon. I’m all for still using older cartridges, but at some point there will be changes. Mil requirements are trickling over to the consumer side, as it always has. We now have better instruments to take precise measurements. Improvements have been made on about everything in shooting except case materials. This is just the next logical step.

I'm not interested in it because it's a 7mm and I already have a 7PRC that I might only use for hunting maybe once a year. The other thousands of rounds are all 6.5 Creed or less for training/plinking/hunting. Basically, I'm just over 7mm+ magnums.

If they sold a 6mm Creedmoor case in Peak alloy it would be game over for most everything else. New case alloys are the future.

A year from now it will be mostly forgotten, more than it already is. The paid shills will move on to the next new best thing.

It is comical how a lot of guys are rooting against case innovation. I get it that the marketing of such, is a little nauseating, but man I'm hoping this takes off or atleast leads to something else taking off. Shorter barrels without the typical loss of velocity, would be great.

It does seem to feel alot like the shilling of Arken stuff from a couple of years ago.

That being said, it also does seem legit. Less recoil than 7PRC, matches or beats 7PRC trajectory with a significantly shorter barrel, smaller diameter than 7PRC so should be able to fit 1 more in most mags.

No difference in firearms, the case holds the pressure, not the firearm.

They say reloading is coming. The main reloading difference according to the videos ive watched is only the neck will need to be resized. No trimming. There are currently available powders that work, normal primers. I dont think ive heard anything about the ability or need to anneal but in one of the videos the Federal rep said they will give guidance on case life in the future. He wasnt sure on where that would land but he mentioned 5-7 reloads. I dont think ive heard anything about new case availability. Also he said that for now, only the polished cases will be recommended for reloading(out of the current offerings anything but the Fusion cases can be reloaded)

It truly is a significant step forward, not just a small improvement on what already exists. Im most looking forward to what comes next. 30BC, 6.5BC, 6BC, 22BC, etc

I know 7mm is popular, but it does seem a bit odd to start there to me. Maybe they chose it based on least crowding of other cartridges.

I do have to wonder, since the rifles dont need anything special, if there will be alloy cases available for existing cartridges with redefined SAAMI specs. So for instance a 6.5CM/BC, 308 Win/BC, etc.

They would probably have to make it clear that they are not recommended for existing autoloaders. I would bet they wouldnt play nice.
