Seems like YouTube is amuck with every influencer shilling the same talking points on 7mm Backcountry. Or maybe it’s just the algorithms targeting me. I’d like it to be successful but the shear volume of these all at once is pretty cringe.

PS Federal, I’d like some of the action for starting this thread ;)

Anybody here using it?
I'd trust you all before YT.

And I can't afford to switch again!
I'm already buying those small rounds that lack "authority and wallop 💣

Best two videos on it I feel like. Worth the listen driving to work. Bottom video is the dry data, and top is the discussion.

They’re getting cartridges like the 170gr Terminal ascent at 3060fps from a 22” barrel. From a 16” it’s around 2,900fps.

195gr’s were coming in at 2,850 from the 22” and like 2,770 from the 16” barrel.

So, with the higher pressure’s they’re achieving, you’ve got velocities capable of pushing these high BC 7mm bullets out to far distances and maintaining velocity better than standard magnum cartridges. From short barrels.

At least that’s what I’m understanding.

My local gun shop has a few rifles in it but no ammo. I’m betting the rifles sit on the shelf a long time

Trying to create an unnecessary market. I miss the days the folks only had 3006, 270. 30-30, 243, etc. All still great rounds...

100% my opinion too!

Yeah i know there may be faster, less drop, softer shooting rounds out there than these trusty "old" cartridges, but its hard for me to go against something thats worked for 100+ yrs and killed dang near everything on the planet.

Love my standard cartridge rifles:

223, 243, 308, 30-06 & 300 Win Mag

Everything I need, nothing I dont, does the jobs I want and need and can cover PLENTY of different game animals across the spectrum.

delete history and don't click on 7bc vids or open in a private browser session

Probably the same amount Sierra is paying Rokslide for the 77gr TMK! 🤣

Coming up with a new case material and concept is way to far out there….. but improving bullet construction and reliability is perfectly fine to make being able to shoot game with smaller calibers is perfectly fine??? C’mon. I’m all for still using older cartridges, but at some point there will be changes. Mil requirements are trickling over to the consumer side, as it always has. We now have better instruments to take precise measurements. Improvements have been made on about everything in shooting except case materials. This is just the next logical step.
