What guns to buy before a ban?

These type of things are only one bad election cycle away in a lot of states...
Absolutely. It happened to Colorado in the matter of 10-15 years. Went from a purple swing state to single party rule. Also required 4 progressive political activist millionaire/billionaires. Referred to as the 4Horsemen. Well documented.

So I live in the wonderful state of Colorado which is quickly creeping into a communist state. That being said I am curious what guns you would buy before a "semi auto ban" took place and why.

I came from California and went through all their AR bans and just built a lot of my stuff, parts were never an issue so I am not really worried about building but more what is a gun that you think is mandatory in someone's armory that might be banned.
As many said I would say Glock, I am in CA and watching more and more restricted guns is crazy. Before our increased 11% tax I saw lines out the doors for guns and ammo at every store... Waited 2hrs to buy a case of 9mm

Yes, a physical move is what we're experiencing, big time, in Idaho. We were already a deep-red state and the people moving here from Cali and Washington are even more conservative than most long-time residents. I've read about similar relocations to Florida and Texas. Indeed, some of the large blue states have lost enough people to red states that there will be a favorable adjustment to the House of Representatives.

I can certainly understand your frustration about leaving a beautiful state like Colorado with top-notch outdoor recreation. My brother and his wife faced much the same situation in northern California, before finally getting fed up and moving to Idaho upon retirement.
Unfortunately for many of us it’s not as simple as just move, many of us were born here and have family, friends, land, property, careers businesses. I wish it were as simple as just pull up stakes but no battles were ever won by tucking tail and leaving. I carry small hope we might return to more middle of the road, but it’s small haha. Wife made an observation the other day we used to live in a neighborhood where every neighbor was either from Colorado or had been in the state 30 plus years… every single one was conservative or at least supported and looked favorably on hunting and fishing, even large predators. We moved and I’m the only person from Co in new area… they are all outwardly extremely left leaning… mentioned I hunted near by our new house and the neighbor just about had a stroke

I surely see where you're coming from and I admire your attitude about standing and fighting. Perhaps the political climate in Colorado will swing the other way because enough good folks stayed and fought.

I wonder why so many ardent supporters of the second amendment are even worried about obeying unjust laws? Thomas Jefferson was a strong advocate that citizens have a moral obligation to disobey unjust laws.

So my question is this. Who gives a shit what laws they make? Honestly…. If these people are so out of touch and off base. If your sense of independence runs deep. Just….dont listen?

With the AWB in WA here, I know of many people who have skirted the situation. Un-serialized uppers and parts can be bought by someone else almost anywhere and no transfers. This is why I advocate buying multi-caliber lowers while you still can. I can swap uppers in a matter of minutes.
