What fabric for DIY Woobie/Doobie?

I use 3.0 Primaloft on most all of my woobies and would rate it at a 30° bag. I made one for a customer with 6.0 Primaloft but didn't get a chance to test the rating before shipping it out. Like someone else pointed out, when you move to the thicker synthetic insulation you start to loose a lot of pack space. I'd suggest anyone in a cold climate move to a down in order to get a reasonable pack size.

Are you referring to 3.0 Oz primaloft gold? I have a blanket with 1 layer of 3.0 and I consider it a 50-55 degree insulation layer at best with no other insulating layers on. At 30 there would be no sleep had in my tent.

I read recently that Kifaru uses 7.2 Apex in their slick bags. Not sure If that's true or not, but it seems to line up with my experience with 3.0 primaloft gold.

Yes, 3.0 Primaloft Gold. Keep in mind that material choice and quilting make a big difference in your rating. I don't quilt my woobies so they hold heat and don't leak if you need an extra tarp. Yes, my woobies can be used as a tarp if needed.
