What does your taxidermist charge?

Current price on full-body sheep (habitat and base included) running right around $10K this year for mine. That price has doubled in the last 7 years as compared.

A friend’s niece just started doing taxidermy work this past year. Gave her a whitetail head to do a euro. She is $90.00 for the skull, and additional $10.00 if I want it whitened. I didn’t want it on a plaque, just the skull, so $100.00 total.

Last year I had two euros done. First one in WV from a guy my cousin uses. He was $200.00 and it took 10 months to get it back.
Second one, I had done by an Amish guy in PA that was $100.00 if they do the butchering. I got the meat and the euro back at the same time, 10 days after I dropped it off.
Last mount I had done was a pedestal 2020, in MD.
That one was $950.00 and took 15 months. He did a shoulder mount for me maybe 8 years back that was $625.00. That fella, last I heard was $1600.00 for a pedestal and $1100.00 for a shoulder mount.

Got my whitetail buck for $550 done in 2 months this year. First i have heard of this guy. Does everything by himself where most send the hides for tanning. Everyone else is $700 to $900 for shoulder mounts. The wait is usually 10-15 months.

When I picked up a euro, there were some big bucks in there. He said they’re seeing bigger ones every year because of the price of a shoulder mount. He’s charging $100 for a euro in WI.

I have to appreciate that this trophy room has a great variety of animals tastefully displayed while not just being wall to wall heads. Very nice!
Thank ya sir. Very kind! I’ve got a couple of different rooms to go with that one. Like ya said, that way it’s not sorta wall-to-wall.

I haven't paid a taxidermist in 35 years. My brother dabbles in it and has done a WT and a bear rug, but he didn't charge me anything as he was still practicing. They turned out pretty nice though. I have no idea what they charge now.

SE WY shot a really nice Shiras moose in 2025. A goid friend who is a world class taxidermist is doing a should mount for $2800.

Then last, but definitely not least, was fortunate enough to shoot another Fannin’s Sheep last August and having this pose below done now with it.
