What does your taxidermist charge?

Always wondered how much taxi’s make per hour if they broke it down. Just got my first (and prolly only) pedestal mount back and very happy with how it turned out. Tate with Owl Ridge out of Laramie did the work and definitely feel like I got my moneys worth.

A buddy gave me a well worn whiskey barrel I rehabbed and like how it all came together.

Your $650 for a whitetail shoulder mount in Indiana is a solid deal these days most places are hitting $700-900 in 2025, especially for quality work Texas and Midwest often $800-1000, cheaper in the South around $550-700.

That $900 for a triple pheasant setup $300 bird sounds spot on too single flying standing pheasants usually run $275-350 each.

Prices have jumped the last couple years with supply costs, so you scored pretty good!

Free on the labor and then cost of materials and tanning. If I was still doing it commercially then I would be at least $1800 for elk and 1k for deer sized animals. I rarely mount anything for myself. I have an antelope that has been sitting in the freezer since 2019. Is 6 years too long of a wait? 😉

As mentioned here in Texas just paid 1000 for a whitetail shoulder mount. You can find mounts a bit cheaper but the guy does real good work and keeps his client list small enough to get the mount back in under a year. Done the two year wait (and lost the mount to a fire at the taxidermist). Never again!
