What does a 150" mulie look like?

I've killed a variety of different bucks in the 150 range. There's young spindly 150s and gnarly old 150s. A legit 150 buck is pretty dang nice. A lot of these bucks on the wall I've had people guess and say 160 or 170 and think a lot of people probably throw numbers out like that on their 150 buck that they have never taped. Not that I care, they are all nice, but if you throw numbers out they should be correct. I used to guide and had to be fairly close on my field judging for some individuals. I now just look for older deer that have something unique.

1- 157 on left 154 and 29 wide on right
2- 158 palmated gnarly old badlands buck
3- narrow deep forked prairie buck 157
4- 158 straight typical no eye guards badlands buck
5- 159 main frame with 6 or 7 inches of extras. Big ole mtn buck
6- mid 140s migrater
7- high 130s 3 if recall right
8- 26 wide high 130s if I recall. The last buck I vowed to take before his time. Just wasn't worth it knowing what he could of been.

Interesting, those are all mature big bucks even though they didn’t score super high.
The middle buck was 8.5 and the right buck was 7.5. Lab aged. Didn't age the buck on the left because I didn't know about doing that at the time. I have a 5.5 year old 140" buck, a 6.5 year old 160" buck and a 10.5 year old 130" buck.

I think age only helps their growth if they have the good genetics to begin with. But I think some deer just aren't going to get big, no matter how old they get.

This one is 160" I had seen him 2 years prior and shot a bigger one. He regressed a little but was biggest I saw on hunt 2 years later.

Good post for sure. Nice to see some good bucks. Some of them are a little surprising, I guess some good photography can add some perceived size.

Don't get caught up in some pointless "score number" that doesn't actually mean anything. Listen to your guide and kill a buck that you're happy with. Have fun!

They're like a 300" bull. Everyone thinks they've killed one, but most people are adding some inches. 150" muleys and 300" bull elk are bigger than people realize.
Exactly. Lots of 130" mules getting called 150+ these days. Same with 250-260" bulls
So damn true. Until you actually start measuring them, if pretty hard to guess. People just throw numbers around for sure haha. Here’s a 266” bull, inside the rack of a 296” bull. Still not 300” hahaha. The 266” bull was 4 years old and the 296” was 9 years old. Check out just the difference in skull size also. Pretty cool.
