About to start broadhead tuning- what’s y’all’s go to distance to dial it in? I’ve used 30 and 40 for the most of the time but was wondering what others do

I like to go back as far as I can and still keep everything on the target. It makes my corrections and problems stand out more. Sometimes, I have to start closer and then move back farther.

I like to end at 60.

first and foremost- confirm ata, timing, and center shot. Usually check center shot out to 40-50 with fp.

Start at 40 with BH use yokes/shim if it’s way off. Move to 50 dial in with rest, then same for 60. Should only be minor rest adjustments at 50/60. Somewhere between 60-80 (depending on bow/arrow) bh start hitting lower, so I usually don’t mess with anything past 60.

I start at 30 or 40 and will go back to 80. Sometimes will shoot at 100 but more for fun than tuning.

After 65 ish my ability's go downhill fast. All of the elk I have killed have been under 40. Boy smashed one at 60, that is the furthest.

I always do most of the the tuning at 40 as I am still very proficient at this distance. Once I am happy with that, I go back to 80 which is beyond where I would ever shoot an animal and do fine tuning from there.

60 tuning. I’ll shoot out to 80 or 100 too and make any minor adjustments if needed. Most of the time they don’t need any more adjustments after 60.

I also do almost all of my compound shooting at 60-100 yards. Very seldom do I shoot my bow at closer distances other than to verify pins gaps.

About the farthest distance I’m willing to shoot. You just have to note that broadheads will have more friction and wants to drop faster than field point. I try to get them perfect at 50-60 vertically.

For both compound and traditional gear, I shoot to the yardages that I am willing to realistically shoot at a live animal. Which is 13 less yards than a field point for trad and 30 less for compound for me
