I thought it would be fun for people to share their sewing projects and start a whole thread for collaboration.

Disclaimer about my projects: I do have a tag I use to brand mine that you may see on here. I am not offering or advertising them for sale here. Nor am I accepting custom work now or in the near future. This is just for fun.
Drop your latest sewing project, I’ll start.
A chest pack I’m working on:

Very cool stuff!
My wife has sewing and embroidery machines here. Every time I come up with an idea for something that requires sewing on packs, slings, etc., I think I could do it relatively easily. My biggest hurdle is knowing what thread and needles are required for that thicker denier and strap material. Any insight would be appreciated. I think this is one of most underrated skills outdoorsmen don't pay any attention to.

I use Gutermann MARA 70 for just about everything on my home machine (Singer Heavy Duty). For 500-1000d Cordura and webbing I use needles rated for denim #100/16.

I agree sewing is an underrated skill and I have really enjoyed picking it up as a hobby. I find all sort of things to fix or modify around the house.

This is probably the best option. I have a sailrite machine and I use a little heavier thread but for a home machine you will want to go lighter

That’s some good work Bachto. Didn’t happen to see any tags, but where are you getting those made. Custom personal tags is a great idea.

My current project is coming up with a replacement for an industrial sewing machine table - something that will sit on top of a kitchen table or work bench in the garage. At first it seemed like something that should be easy to do - like an old timey wood base for black Singer residential machines. However, mounting the motor and a reducer is turning the idea of a really compact design into something much larger.

A compact sewing table may have been a better idea - at the very least I shouldn’t have gotten rid of the old table so quickly. :-)

Those Sailrite machines are really cool - the project videos are well done.

No machine for me.....yet. But I hand sewed a seam that seperated on one of my 1/4 zip merino tops.
Some nice looking work in this thread, kudos.

Worked on these for a new product launch. Our Ultralight Scoped Action Armor. I started with my own projects too, now it’s a struggling little business!

Good work on those @Bachto

Lemme know if you want to do some contract sewing, lol, get your own little sweatshop going.”!

Nice stuff. I did sew my glove this morning, does that count. What do you guys think a good machine is for sewing cordura or regular nylon?

I would buy once cry once and get a sail rite if you think you are going to do it all the time. If you want to go cheaper you could probably get away with the singer heavy duty and upgrade later. If you live in a larger city you might be able to find a sail rite used on Facebook and craigslist
