What did you do at the range today?

The kids and I have shot a bit of .22lr the last few days and maybe a magazine through the 6.8spc out to ~425. The eye seems to be healing to the point that I'm comfortable with a bit more recoil (it doesn't hurt, I just don't want to push my luck with the new lens).

Anyway, I went to the range by myself about an hour ago. Three shots from the 6.5cm, seated with poles, at 550 yards. 16" plate, the first shot was the worst but still within an (imaginary) ~8.5" circle. And, best, I did this on 8x. I genuinely believe the new lens and being able to see clearly again is going to make me way more comfortable at mid-range magnifications (meaning ~6x to ~12x) again.

Picked up my 22ARC lastnight and took her for a spin this morning. After a quick barrel break in, I walked it out to 700yds then ran out of ammo. Loading more up tonight and will go out to 1k tomorrow

Stage 6 moving target at 540 yds
Target moving back and forth @2.8 mph
5 positions on big rocks move after 3 hits. So 15 hits to clean it
90 sec to work your magic
I got 2 hits

On the way to the “range” yesterday. The Tikka 223 with the NXS. 2.5-10x32 is strapped onto the snowboard rack on the tunnel. No care taken outside of how I normally ride. Shows the importance of a gun setup that doesn’t suck.

I picked up brass from last nights activities, painted targets and put in three new targets. Tomorrow is Sunday Gunday.

Not Today but yesterday I did load development for my 300RUM.
Shooting 215 Hybrid OTM
Using N-570, 4th firing on Rem annealed brass, Fed215M, C.o.a.l. 3.855,
95grs was my max.At 3307fps
Found a good node between 93. to 93.5
Settled on 93.3 At 3220fps..3 sd.
Picture below is 12 shots with the 3 loads.
Now I need to stretch it out to 300 and 500yds.

I have a bunch of 140 grain FMJ Aguila 6.5 CDMR from when ammo was kind of hard to find. It shoots terrible.

I didn't take a control group to the range with me today to compare though. As far as I can tell, past problems, are likely some inconsistency with their neck tension or seating.

Shot a control group of Aguila 140 6.5 CM, out of the box with no tinkering to compare to pulled / reseated group that I fired last week.

Had 3 rounds of Ammo, Inc. 6.5 CM 140 SST that wouldn't chamber last week. These shoot excellent in my Tikka, but occasionally get one that won't chamber. Took those home, pulled bullets, weighed charges, bumped shoulder, reseated. The Ammo, Inc. may have the same ball powder and approximate charge of around 41.4 gn, as the Aguila.

Shot at a few milk jugs, and plates, prone and seated with 6 CM and 223 out to 200. Found a golf ball, someone had left and shot through that. I even shot the fuzz off a dandelion. But I couldn't manage to hit another one a second time. Picked up a couple of golf balls and my own milk jug trash, before I left the range.

Another Sunday Gunday for me and the dudes. We shot the lower portion of the walkthrough course and I put them on a timer today. They are improving everytime we go out.
