What did you do today to get ready for archery season?

Opened a new set of strings for my backup/"speed bow". I have to bring it in this weekend to get them put on and start dialing it in. So basically nothing considering I have two Prodigies I'm just going to turn this one up a bit and shoot some lighter arrows for kicks.

You must live in a rough neighbor.

Arrow proof seat in a lawnmower is taking it to the next level.

The good part is atleast it wasn't side walls of the tires. But when the first one went what I'm assuming was really high, why did you shoot another?
I think I know why. I have done it.

Shooting from 60. My eyes aren't good enough to tell where I hit. Sounded a little off but it was late in the day and I was rushing because it was almost time for dinner. Been shooting for awhile, still room to learn. Looking back it seems really obvious, but I was tired and in a rush. Actually feel pretty stupid about it.

Project for the morning is to move my target station. According to my wife anyway. 😐

Moved my archery target and applied for deer season, including my archery tag.

Shot a bit, too. Confidence took a kit. It'll be back.

Installed an Ultraview Beereal grip on my Traverse to replace the hockey tape. Small sample size so far, but I’m getting a comfortable, repeatable grip much easier and faster than I did with either the Engage or the hockey tape/riser combo.

It has pained me to admit how much I like that grip. I have a consistent hand placement throughout a shooting session. The side plates didn't work for me as my knuckle rubbed bad, the engage grip I liked but after 40-50 shots my hand would start rotating around the grip a fair amount. Don't know what caused it other than fatigue, but it went away with the ultraview.

I had similar issues with the Engage, which is why I switched to riser/tape. That was better, but I felt like I was constantly doing a fifteen step process to get my grip just right, and I knew that it wouldn’t be repeatable in the woods. I’ll update as time goes by, but so far I just wish I’d gotten one sooner.

I drew my 66 elk tag for this fall I ordered a new set of strings for my 3 year old bow. I shot at some 1" dots at 25 yards working on form. I will shoot almost daily between now and September!

Decided I needed to reserve my string....

Last week at a shoot I had a nock break on the shot. I think the nock frayed my serving and the red string. I was shooting Tuesday and noticed it looked odd. Then Wednesday at a shoot the serving just unwrapped right off the string...oops!!

Now I get to put it in the press, reserve, tie nock points and new d loop and get after it. It lasted a year. Probably 5000 arrows conservatively.

I have a new string ready to go too but, I'll set that up later.

Time for me to pull my head out of my rear end. Drew deer and bear archery tags for September in Colorado this week. This weekend I'm getting the backup bow set up, and building and re-fletching a whole bunch of arrows. Shot very little last year because of all rifle hunting, and been majorly slacking this year so far too, but time to get back on it.

90 days and change ain't much. Better get busy.

I had that exact same thought. "Crap. I need to get moving...."

The good news is, I have everything I need in the basement: Press, drawboard, all arrow building stuff, arrows and components, bows, gear, etc. If I had to, I could walk out the door in a week and manage, I'd just have to take it slow and adjust my max range in. Even without any practice I'm still good for a softball at 40 yards on my first shot.

Haven't let the wheels fall off from a fitness perspective, but need to drop 10 pounds and ramp up the cardio so I'm ready for 10 days between 11,000' and 13,000', and need to dial in some gear a little better too.

Ran my first half marathon today since being diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis 3 years ago, beating my all time best run by 5 seconds. Oh and I bought a V3 31 on Friday lol. Now I can start tuning it up for September. So busy days every day getting ready for the season.
