What did you do in the reloading room today?

Finally got around to messing with a few new toys this weekend. I had quite a few gift cards to scheels, so I splurged and upgraded my press to the Short Action Customs Nexus. Very nice piece of equipment and feels much more solid compared to my Hornady LNL press. Sized 100 pieces of 22 Creed and 50 pieces of 7 SAUM.

Next up was the Hornady 3-1 High Speed Trimmer. Very nice and was a breeze to trim 100 cases. Also, originally the trimmer only came with 4 pilots (22,24,26, and 30 cal), however mine also came with 20,25,28, and 338 pilots. Looking forward to putting it to good use when bulk prepping 5.56 and 300 BLK.

Those pretty blue tips are speaking to me. I wish hornady would use those 🤣.

Those puppies are visually appealing.
They fly good too. .7-1.0 MOA 5-shot groups from 100-300yds. Looks like about a .540BC based on the LabRadar, and just barely squeak inside the 3.380” mag.

I have a box of the 338 HHTs sitting on the shelf waiting to be shot. Not sure how I feel about the robin/tiffany blue, but the bullets definitely shoot well. If Hammers weren't so expensive, I'd be sending a lot more of them down range.

Loaded .223 - 77 TMK's w/TAC yesterday. Generic load I use in several rifles.

Since TAC was in the dispenser I wanted to give it a try with some of Sierra's bolt gun data for the Grendel.

Loaded 6.5 Gren - 129 ABLR w/TAC. A couple to work through up to max. Good accuracy at max and the loads working up to it. Nice thing to see with a temp sensitive powder that will be used in weather colder than load workup. Not hitting the velocity that Sierra lists but it's still better than previous loads using gas gun data. Loaded what I had primed and will play with it a bit over the next few weeks to see how it will workout.

Didn't do this in the loading room but I will eventually use it there. Got a set of Hornady calipers today

Loaded up 300 olde tyme 38 Spl loads with a 148gr wadcutter and what was left of my Alliant Bullseye stash for use in my new-to-me S&W Model 14-4 Target Masterpiece. I simply can't lose a target contest now!

I just got home from the range shooting some of those loads, and at 15 yards they absolutely crater out the bullseye of a B19 target. It's way too easy, so I'll have to move it back to 25 or even 50 yards! 🤯

Necked down 100 pieces of primed factory second 270 WSM brass for my 6.5 WSM project. I was a little bummed the Lee FL sizing die decapping pin can't be removed. Instead, I nipped it off and sanded the "nub" smooth with belt sander. I ordered another stem with decapping pin from Lee for like $8 so no biggy.
The primed 270 WSM brass was a screamer of a deal for 100 pieces at $65. It's Hornady, so not the best brass available, but at that price it will be good enough for break in and load dev. I have another 100 pieces of unsized/unprimed Norma brass, and I'll do some side by side testing a little further down the road as part of load dev.

Loaded two hundred 158 grain JSP for the 357 mag a couple of weeks back. Resized lots of 223 cases tonight and trimming with old hands 😆 that will take days. Ordered a 223 case gauge as well. Then I’ll see if the resizing I did was enough or not. I don’t own a 223 rifle yet but someday and I’ll have brass ready for that day.

Of all things, I loaded some 30-30 and 170gr Speer FP's using up a lone partial pound of VV N-133 I acquired somewhere along the way. Picking a mid-range load will work out to 50 yards or so and give some fun plinking. The Model 94 is a fun gun to shoot even in the offseason!

Messing with case capacity in factory vs 1x fired brass. I have a 1.4 gr h2o difference. Had some drop in speed so I’m working to get to either the same case fill percentage or speed/accuracy and see if they’re related.

I've been working so damn much, reloading has taken a backseat. This thread reminds me that I need to get my priorities right again 😆.
I feel that, not work but "life" stuff. Waiting on my smith to finish up a couple toys and then I'll be back at it. Those mandrel results you posted have been eating me up and I'm dying to test it but I want to do a couple different cartridges at the same time for.. SCIENCE! 😆

Got 150 Barnes TTSX, 50 each in 257, 270 and 7mm. Packed them down stairs to the basement where my reloading set up is.

My wife has been kinda hesitant about me spending a ton of money right now on reloading stuff, rightfully so as we had a baby 5 months ago and money can be a little tight at times. But I was talking to her about how I don't think I want to shoot lead bullets any longer because the more I read about kids and lead the less I want to expose my kids to that shit. She promptly ordered those Barnes TTSX bullets.

Can't wait to get wait to my wildcat 7 mm to get to the FFL next week or so.
