What COAL are you folks loading ARC / BR / Dasher? Need design input

Gotcha. I'd never ran it snail slow but the rifle is in my truck so just checked. With 2.090" COAL and at snail slow once the cartridge clears the feed lips it tips down and the tip gets pushed just below the mouth of the chamber and will hang up. At slightly faster its about 1 in 3 or 4 make it into the chamber. At a medium slow speed no failures to feed. Also for informational purposes the subject rifle is a Ruger American in a Magpul Hunter Stock. Hope this helps.
Yeah that is the issue I am trying to design out to have mag options which that is avoided. Nothing would stop someone from using a longer magazine with a shorter cartridge and understanding they need to run the bolt at a faster speed to avoid hang ups. But I want to put whatever caveats in place ahead of time so folks know what they're getting if they order a longer mag.

Looks like MDT AICS BR mags - 2.50" max
- ARC mags: 2.40" metal, 2.48" plastic.

Sounds like 2.450" should handle most typical dasher loads? Especially with shorter hunting barrels that these are oriented around, might be nice to not try to maximize it for the absolutely longest/heaviest bullets if doing so compromises function a bit with more common applications.

Did some measuring with different projectiles in my Tikka with Preferred 6 ARC barrel. I usually seat at .020" off the lands, so the COAL for the following projectiles in my chamber would be:

- 87 VLD: 2.234"
- 95 TMK: 2.332" (although to seat at the neck/shoulder junction would require 2.215")
- 105 Bondstrike: 2.310"
- 105 Hybrid: 2.336"

I haven't loaded those projectiles up yet, but factory 108 ELDM ammo sits around 2.250" COAL. These feed perfect out of my Waters 2.6" 223 magazines. I have two of the Waters mags and they both feed perfectly, even when pushing the bolt forward extremely slow. It might be worth looking at the feed lip geometry of these as they've fed 100% in my rifle.

That’s good the waters 2.6 223 mags are working for you. I have the same mags and the 22arc base doesn't sit high enough for the bolt to catch it in my gun. Bolt hits the case body about 1/2-3/4 of the way down and slides over it. Makes me wonder what’s different. I have a box of 6ARC ammo somewhere that I can’t find at the moment to try and see if that feeds in the waters mags.
