So what are you carrying? I posted on the optics a was thinking Swaro 10x30 CL and they are $1500 and then I was looking at some Vortex 10X32 UHD and they are the same price, how is that possibe? What am I missing and how does vortex price like some Swaro. I will be carrying a Kowa 66 spotter. So what do you recommend and can you offer some insight and pros and cons of current and past choices?

I carry either swaro 12 NLs or 14 NLs depending on what I’m hunting. I tend to hunt big open country so prefer higher magnification with tripod. I also carry a swaro 65 mm spotter. Can’t speak on Vortex as I’ve never used. Rumor has it their customer service is great and is utilized often by their customers

I always have 8x42 SLC's in a bino harness and either 15 swaros in my pack or a 65x spotter. I like the 8's for a little better light in the morning and evening through thicker timber.

Years ago, I was helping a friend hunt sheep here in Colorado. And I brought my 8x30 Swarovskis, a Pentax higher end 10x bino, and a couple of other pairs to use at the observation point as well as a spotter. The 8x Swarovskis were better than the 10x binos every time. That suggests to me that you need definition more than magnification, i.e., buy quality more than power. Quality and magnification if you think you want more.

I upgraded to Swaro EL 10x42s last summer. Prior to that, I used Vortex diamondback 10x50s for 8 or 9 years. My only regret is not upgrading to higher quality glass sooner

I’ve been using the Zeiss Conquest 10x42’s for three years now and absolutely love them. The sharpness and clarity is great and the field of view is impressive compared to the Vortex model I had prior(can’t remember the specific name)

How do you like the gpo?
They are good. Extremely fast lazer.

I bought them for the size and weight, as they are tiny.

I’d say glass is on par with Revic, but the right barrel is a touch darker. But clarity is same. No tint just touch darker, guessing its coating for the led read out. It took me a few times swapping before i noticed the difference though.

Lecia geo HD -R 2200 I couldn’t tell a difference glass wise, or light at dusk. GPO lazer is exponentially faster and more range, the Lecia did have a higher FOV though. With that said that Lecia is discounted. I ran against HD B and same glass but Geo laser was closer to GPO just a touch slow, but it is thinking of a solution though.

The Leica R I actually think has better glass then the Lecia pro/HD and is a touch better then GPO and Revic, but there is a very big difference in size and weigh of the Leica R vs 40mm GPO

If you want best glass Leica R
If you want lightest least bulky package with good glass GPO 10x40 @ 26oz.. it’s palm sized basically… assuming you don’t need ballistics

Super helpful thanks!

For size reference the GPO 10x40 is a noticeable amount smaller and lighter than the Revic’s also. I wish I would have taken a picture.

I was originally holding of for the swaro EL 12x to release but then i
made the mistake of looking through 14x NL pure on a sheep hunt. So I decide to go lighter and 10x and GPO fit bill perfect and complements the 14x pures well while saving 1/2 a pound
