I am ready to upgrade my spotter. I currently have a Leupold SX-4 20-60 Pro guide and I am very unimpressed with it. Searching through the optics forum it seems that many of you like the Kowa. Initially I was not wanting to drop quite that much on a spotter. Was hoping that their might be something available that was a legitimate upgrade that wasn’t quite expensive. That being said, I may go the buy once, cry once path and make this my last spotter ever.

Primary use will be digiscoping and searching for wildlife at many of our national parks. It’ll go on a few western hunts but that won’t be how it gets most of its use. Kowa proclaims to be the king of digiscoping. What makes them so much better at that than any of the top tier brands?

If you could get Swaro at the same price of Kowa, which would you buy?

Help…

Just brought home a Kowa straight 15x45x55 this morning, like new used, for $1k. Just keep your eyes open, never know where you might find a deal.

It's really clear at about a mile, farthest I've looked so far with it, and the fine focus dial is pretty sweet!

Kowa is THE alpha spotter. The most expensive way to buy product is to skip the buy once cry once and buy and replace on your way up to the quality you knew you wanted originally.
It's our pleasure, as a long time sponsor and supporter here to assist you.
Please give us a call, 516-217-1000, to chat about which would be best for you

Has anyone compared the swaro atc/stc and kowa 55sa/s directly? The resolution and everything else sounds to be extremely comparable, but kowa specs the field of view to be slightlbetter than the swaro, and the swaro has 20mm eye relief compared to kowa's 17mm.

Is the eye relief and field of view difference actually noticeable in use? Does the 20mm make it much more enjoyable use over 17mm?
