WI just mandated masks with a state of emergency, citing a recent increase in cases. If you look at the stats, cases have leveled and our death rate is actually dropping (currently 1.7%) Just madness! I'm guessing this will be challenged at the supreme court level, again.....

It is becoming very clear this is ONLY political at this point. Whats the end game?

I think the endgame is to try and reduce the risk of everyone getting infected in the first wave. Extend it out so we can get our shitshow figured out.

As we've seen better treatments are becoming best practice and the death rate vs infected is going down.

Some of the "long hauler" stories of healthy folks with lasting severe symptoms make me want to wait as long as possible to get it.

Still wondering when this spike in daily deaths is going to plateau? Perhaps level off for a while?

Here’s the state graph of deaths in my county. Better shut it all down again. And yes there have been positive cases since March. Some in places you don’t want any virus. My county is also a huge summer tourist town.

Where are you getting your data? Looking at Worldmeters stats, WI appears to have been on the increase in terms of new cases from 6/18 through 7/26, with only a decrease this past week which is as likely due to typical delays in testing response. Deaths have continued to increase since 7/10 although the numbers remain really low (8/1/20 7-day average of 8).

And they did do a sort of modified shutdown of schools and gatherings over 50 people.

And they have a general trust for government and science, so they don't need to be mandated to do the right thing.

Using Sweden’s numbers to fit a narrative is silly, at best.

Had a friend at church tell me this morning that he switched churches because his old one required masks. He then went on to say that he hoped this "Covid thing" would be over soon.

I just don't know what to say to people like that anymore.

It’s not as simple as looking at a single stat, such as daily numbers or even percent of positive. None are valuable on their own. For the past month If you went into the hospital or some other medical facility you were tested for covid (tons more testing). Those procedures don’t happen on the weekend, therefore there is a weekly “spike” in percent positive. This spike is false/fake. As I said, our death rate has dropped and is now stable below 2%. I believe it is currently at 1.7%.

if this is so severe and we are increasing in positive cases exponentially, why Is the death rate going down? Simple answer is that, though serious, the virus doesn’t kill as many as originally thought.

In addition, MLB is proving to me that covid is way more widespread than thought. In the past 3 months my work group of 34 people, all of which have contact with the public, both while working and on personal time, has only had one positive covid test. We only get tested if there are symptoms. Meanwhile, In the last 2 weeks, professional athletes who have minimal public contact, but get tested everyday, have had numerous cases...... That tells me that if the general public got tested on a daily basis there would be a crap ton more positives, which by default would drop the death rate.

MLB is showing covid is super widespread, way more than many believe.

While I tend to agree about not trying to paint a picture based on a single statistic, the data for the daily cases I can find contradicts what you are suggesting which is why I ask.

Well we incorrectly gave out stimulus checks to over 1 million people who aren’t even alive anymore, do you really think that mail in ballots won’t create issues for fraudulent voting? They had people busted for buying ballots from 5000 homeless in LA too. Mail in voting across the board will be a chit show. Not to mention the incompetence of the USPS!
