Honest question for @NDGuy @durangobrad @MattB and anybody else in the staunch "wear a mask" crowd. Do you guys wash your mask or masks in the washing machine daily as recommended by the CDC? Please be honest.

Honestly, no , not to their guidelines which I believe calls for washing with a bleach solution after every use (which can be more frequent than every day). I am only in a position to wear a mask 3-4 times a week when I go into a grocery/hardware store or food joint and then it is on for maybe 2-5 minutes. Mine sits in the sun in a 130 degree car for hours most days, so I feel ok with that as any exposure my mask gets is minimal and I presume any deficiency in cleaning will affect me and not others. Living on the edge....

The folks who aren't acting prudently by wearing masks and distancing when they should be are the ones behind the recent mandates and will have to own some of the economic damage they are creating.
Everything you’ve advocated is do as I think or they be consequences. In case you’ve missed it, there is 19 million people out of work due to shut downs and prudence. And, people who think just like you.

My 2nd cousin knows a guy whose ex girlfriend's brother works in Pharma, and he says the vaccine is really already developed. The delay is due to negotiation of the political left vs the communists for which DNA altering ingredients should be used to eliminate convervatism and capitalism via the vaccine. And of course the nanobots that will allow national intelligence agencies to track movements, purchases, gun ownership, and allow mind manipulation to influence elections. Apparently they're struggling to enhance capabilities as all this currently can be prevented with a simple tin foil hat. Stay tuned for further developments. And, yes this is 100% BS.

Mask will not make this go away. What will is it moving through the population as fast as possible. The absolute worst thing we can do is drag this out. If you are at risk or showing symptoms wear a mask and stay home if not get off your ass and get to work. If the US economy crashes we will all be in a world of shit.

No no no man you got it all wrong. We will get 800 per week to stay home, from THE GOVT.

Another funny observation I am seeing is the people that promote following the recommendations from various governments such as wearing masks, not traveling for recreation, only socialize with people you live with, ect usually don't follow all the recommendations themselves. They will scold others, and tell them even if it is only a small chance of helping it is worth it. If you don't you are selfish. The same people then tell stories of all the things they do that only follows part of recommendations, but have a great reason why what they did was ok.

Its as if we live in America! Try to get the most accurate information you can, and live your life accordingly.

We actually all see it the same way,but just don't know it. I will make an informed decision for me, and you make an informed decision for your regarding all the different "recommendations".

Oh bullshit. The whole theory behind the first shut down was to flatten the curve. Remember, Do your part and flatten the curve. That ******* thing can’t get much flatter
The damn goal posts keep getting moved is the problem. Flatten the curve, keep the hospitals from getting overwhelmed is still the best course of action and least harmful to our eroding freedoms.

I'm surprised millionaire and especially billionaire liberals can't pay for mask and social distancing credits, like carbon credits.

Some people in America aren't completely against masks, but they are completely for the bill of rights and following the law.

1) Mandatory emergency orders by hypocritical executives and unelected "health" bureaucrats that go on in perpetuity are not law. No law abiding American should have to submit to that, unless they wish to, regardless of the reasoning.
2) If you disagree with #1, then why shouldn't every mayor/police chief in the nation, under the guise of public safety (with far more evidence for these measures saving lives than masks) and by executive order, be able to stop and frisk you for no reason at all, chain closed all tobacco & liquor stores, close all soft drink warehouses, take everyone's car keys and cigarettes, etc...you get the idea.

Pretty safe to assume the mask Karen's work in a conditioned space, not doing anything physical. It's no big deal, lmfao.

Are you saying that if people are for the bill of rights that it by extension justifies not wearing a mask in situations where wearing one would be prudent? Or that being asked to wear a mask is equivalent to being stopped and frisked or subjecting tobacco and liquor stores to yhe financial impact of mandatory closure? I guess I am not following the logic as one is not dependent on or necessarily related to the other.

19 million is a huge lead I can live with.

Here is reality as we have been told. This isn't going anywhere. We have been told it isn't a question if ut when we will get it.

So, the way I and most others that disagree with you see it, Wearing masks and following what you propose will drag this out for 10 years to reach heard immunity if we've only reached 2% at this point. Yeah, that sounds like a better idea doesn't it. And you are preaching about economic ramifications?

Facts are helpful.png Facts are helpful. The yellow part of the graph is new cases since June 4th. You can see the spike. The green line is recovered cases. The red line at the bottom and nearly flat is the deaths. There is nothing to see here folks. Nothing to panic about. The science shows that there is a 99.5% that you will be just fine with or without a mask. If cases increase and deaths do not and that has happened for the past month, then that supports what I have been trying to point out. The mortality is continuing to decrease. The small spike with deaths on the 25th was from New Jersey adding nearly 2,000 "probable" deaths to their stats that they decided they had missed. More sound science for your text book.

Local news stories from Oregon
“Hospitals could be overwhelmed by new Covid cases and hospitalizations in weeks.”
Quote from our Governor.

Below is a graph of percentage of emergency room visits due to Covid 19 symptoms off Oregon Health Authority website.View attachment 193564

In my home state the data from our own state government seems to counter every major news story and press release from government leaders. Something very strange is going on here. How could major local news organizations not do 3 minutes of research to include the data point of increasing the number of daily tests from 100 on March 9th to 5245 tests on June 15th. 5 percent of people positive on March 9th, 3.6 percent positive June 15th. Also a sharp decline to nearly 0 percent of emergency room patients being there for covid 19

As of today there are 105 people hospitalized right now in all the hospitals in the state, again data from Oregon Health Authority website.

Oregon has approximately 4.5 million people for reference. As of today we have had 206 deaths. As of May 20th 60 percent of those occurred in Oregon nursing homes(according to the Oregonian Newspaper. I can’t find newer nursing home death day.

Every day I see another business closed.
Just looking at data provided by the state, I can’t see the justification for the economic destruction that has been forced upon this state.

Every State/City is different. These are just observations from where I live using local news organizations and the state itself for data.

The key word here is "could". Nothing gets more clicks/views right now than the worst doom and gloom. I think the governor is trying to get ahead of something that could happen. With the 4th right around the corner she is probably trying to cover her a** in case more people do start dying. She can then feel all warm and fuzzy about the fact that she tried to warn people. Although I can see her locking down the state in a few days just because she can... If WA and CA do then she will follow them for sure.

Down here in south fl the numbers of cases is rising but not the hospitalization or atleast in my area. I think florida has done around 2 million tests now.

Its business as usual around here for the most part. If anything its seems to much more busy with out of state visitors than normal for this time of year.

I thought that I was absolutely clear...that the bill of rights should prevent the govt from ordering all of these things upon you and me in the name of safety, particularly when performed in an authoritarian, nonleglislative way by illegally extending emergency orders, threats by state licensing agencies, etc.

So, my guess is from your comment that you don't want the govt being able to stop and frisk you any time, even though clearly lives would be saved, especially minority lives, regardless of whether a democratically gathered mob supports it or not? I mean how hard is it for you really to get patted down really quickly and turn your pockets out for the safety of all of us? I hate to say it, but kind of sounds...selfish? I mean it is not like you are being forced all day to wear something that obstructs your breathing and causes your nose to run right? Or just maybe, thank God that you have the Constitution and the law to protect you from the mob, any mob!

So the question should be then, why would would one think (if you even do) that it is okay to get their own mob together to force everyone to wear masks indefinitely? Why?

And if consistency with the Constitution and avoiding hypocrisy is not enough to convince you that the mandating of masks indefinitely by govt executives & bureaucrats is not the best course, then what about your mob and its govt agents potentially deleteriously affecting the health of many with these mandates that receive no legislative deliberation?

How you ask?...well for one, masking up constantly may remove the potential for the exposure to other coronaviruses that create cell-mediated cross immunity to SARS-2 virus like seen in kids seemingly?

In that vein, I wonder what the death rate is in Pediatricians and day care workers over 60 years old?

It will be 2 more weeks potentially before we know if the increased reported cases in some areas over the past week lead to a significant jump in ICU admissions.

I have a bunch of N95s that I throw away after using if I go to the stores yep.

To work I have 5 cloth masks I wash each weekend.

If the masks help reduce you getting the virus or help you not spread to others I don't see an argument for not wearing them other than:

"DAMN GOVMINT CANT TELL ME WHAT TO DO"
