So as late as Early February, the Chief of WHO also told countries not to close borders to Foreigners from China.
Hindsight is 20/20.So as late as Early February, the Chief of WHO also told countries not to close borders to Foreigners from China.
It was an out right lie. Not misinformation. China knew long before December 29th they had a real problem but hid it. By the time they contacted the WHO, it was well known by China it would transfer from human to human. If not the truth, why would they even contact the WHO?This was their tweet:
Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China.
Obviously it was bad info, bit it was the only info we had at the time.

Isn't it the responsibility of the WHO to vet their information they are spreading? After all, the WORLD is literally taking guidance from them.
I still enjoy watching montages of media meltdowns from that night. If you've never heard of The Young Turks on youtube, just do a search for "TYT Election Meltdown". It's high comedy. I'd love to see that history repeated this November.Watching CNBC the night of the election was great! The live meltdown was epic!
And science is usually funded by someone or some organization. I wonder if they have biases.

Maybe if you only read the abstract or conclusion. The data doesn't lie, the "interpretation" can. That's why they do meta-analyses.All scientific results have to be interpreted and translated to make meaning. In that process lies bias - always and forever. Some benign, some malignant, but it’s always there.

I'm saying someone with some knowledge of mathmatics can investigate the conclusions of research based on the data. Obviously the point is to conclude based on data, but remember that researchers are not mathematicians and may be interpreting poorly or using inappropriate models. Are you aware of reports made public that only use the meta-analysis with no abstract or conclusion? I’m not. The very fact that data is “dumb” is exactly how it can be manipulated - it still has to be interpreted to make meaning. After all, what’s the point of gathering data if we aren’t looking for meaning from it?
Hindsight is 20/20.
When they issued that they were still basing it off the evidence they were getting from China. Low case numbers and bad information about infection rates, spreading, etc. It's hard to make global decisions based off shit info from China.

This position probably would have been useful.China has a very long history of theft, manipulation, lying, cover ups, fraud and horrible human rights abuses and they run The WHO it seems. WHO is about as worthless as the UN
This position probably would have been useful.
Trump says China "should have told us" about coronavirus. He removed the official meant to do that.
A US epidemiologist was embedded with the Chinese CDC. The Trump administration discontinued the position.www.google.com
Along with the pandemic response team that was disassembled in 2018.
And the briefing from from the oboma admin to incoming admin
Before Trump’s inauguration, a warning: ‘The worst influenza pandemic since 1918’
In a tabletop exercise days before an untested new president took power, officials briefed the incoming administration on a scenario remarkably like the one he faces now.www.politico.com
We knew this was possible but have been dismissing it for all to long.

China is to blame for the disease itself. So who is more to blame, Trump, or China?
Not that it actually matters. If you already hate trump, you never planned to vote for him. I’d you love trump, you will have praise his COVID response and vote for him. But I guess some people just can’t help themselves and absolutely must assign blame and politicize things.
China is to blame for the disease itself.
I wasn't trying to make it political just show my opinion on why our response has been poor. And asked that if you could disprove any of it, I'd listen. But your response turned political.
But we can't blame our terrible level of preparedness, slow response, lack of testing and ppe, and 2 hours daily press briefings of BS on China.
I voted for Trump, wanted to like him. But am smarter than that and I will hold him accountable when need be.
Trump's measure of success is in three things. Building a wall, military spending and Dow Jones industrial average.
He went out his way saving money in places like pandemic response and infections disease prevention, so he could spend more on those things.
