I was looking for the thread on the state of Utah’s latest attempt to take our public lands but this one will do, anybody out there think maybe we all shouldn’t spend our money in salt lake this year and see if losing a few million in tourism dollars from the very people they’re trying to steal land from might change their tune?

I’m

look at the odds. They’re worse than any western Big game tag out there! 1 - 3000-7000? Why would anybody pay for a .02% chance?!

I say the same thing about people who play the lottery. But somebody’s gonna win.

All that would do is hurt hundreds of small businesses that pack the SLC convention center to provide products to the hunting community.

The same businesses that sponsor new ranges to be built, donate money to veteran hunt organizations, donate money to conservation efforts, etc.

All I'm saying is that is a bad take. Don't punish the vendors for what the government is doing.

Maybe the small businesses who make a living off of public land users should also put their feet down and let the state of Utah know they are out of line on this one. I know it’s not reality but that convention hall should be empty this year if anyone in the hunting industry had a spine

It's easy to say that when you don't have 5-10K (some companies even more) invested into the Hunt Expo. The reality is, businesses have to make smart financial decisions to stay in business (especially in this economy). It has nothing to do with having a spine or not. Throwing money away to prove the man wrong is a good way to go out of business. Many of us employ dozens of people in our communities, so I'm just giving you a perspective from the reality of business.

As far as the Utah land ordeal. I understand why you are pissed. I would be pissed too. I primarily hunt public lands and do think the state suing the federal government over this is a gross misuse of time and funds. My bet is this is going no where in court. Probably just a politically motivated power move with no intentions of actually winning. I have been wrong before, but that is my personal take.

Lastly, many of us do stop donating to or supporting things that do not benefit hunters, public lands, 2nd amendment, etc.

To say we don't have spines (if that is what you are implying) would be wrong. We can only control what we can control. If I spent my time picking fights with everything instead of running a business..I wouldn't have a business to run.

Just curious what money you have invested into the expo? Like is that the cost to rent booth space or is that your cost for travel to and from and accommodation for yourself and employees? I don’t need a full accounting I’m just trying to determine how much of that 5-10k you might have invested is truly spent already

It's money already spent. Booths, hotels, etc.

We are not even including the gas station pizza that is going to give me the shits halfway there, or the amount of gas that will be spent pulling a 16' trailer and getting 8 miles per gallon.

It's okay to be wrong Andrew. I'm wrong a lot.

I think in this instance we will agree to disagree. If you canceled hotels would you not get a refund? I get the money spent renting booth space isn’t getting refunded. You haven’t bought the gas or the gas station pizza yet

I think we can agree we both have better things to do at this point. The convo is going no where.

But, I do hope you brought this kind of energy to all of your local politicians in Utah. 👍🏻

I don’t live in Utah, and won’t grace the state with my presence while they are trying to steal our public lands

Good lord, you need to stop drinking the liberals Kool aid. Utah's public lands are going nowhere. If anything, more access may be granted in the future with a change in stewardship.

I like your stance. One of my stances is not to support businesses that puke made in America and use military accolades/participation in their marketing. All their equipment to make “made in America” is from overseas because it’s way cheaper. Fuggin hypocrites. Assembled in America is more like it.

I’d assume this is directed toward us.

99.99% of the components in our products are sourced in the USA with most of them being Berry Compliant. The only thing that is technically non domestic is the magnets, as the United States doesn’t currently mine for rare earths at the moment. If they did…I would be the first in line to buy them regardless of the price.

Even the T-shirts we sell are dirt to shirt Made in the USA.

We even go as far as to finding machinery that is Made in the USA if possible. Our state of the art laser system used for cutting all of our gear was manufactured in Minnesota.

Now, do companies do that? Yes, but if you know anything about us you would know we are highly against using a bunch of overseas materials to manufacture our products.

So, yea…you should probably do some research before making such a defamatory statement.
