Western Daypack/Treestand Hauler

I will try to get some picture up tonight it never I always have trouble loading pictures from my phone

No problem. There's no hurry. It's just nice to get a visual on some of this stuff since I can't really get my hands on any of it to physically check it out. I think I'll pretty much end up buying based on reviews and what works well for other people.

I have used the X2 with a lone wolf assault hang on and muddy sticks. It gets the job done, but this year I'm running a Kifaru duplex frame with a cargo panel.

Anything about the X2 you didn't like, or stuff that the Duplex brings to the table that the X2 didn't? I run a Muddy hang on with their sticks, so my setup will look pretty similar.

I have a Kifaru EMRII that can handle anything. I use it for stands, carrying turkey decoys and chairs, etc.. in WI, then its a great do all bag for out west. It straps down to nothing when empty as well. Its alot of cash though if you will be limited in using it. A frame back for the treestands would be much more economical.

I didn't like the X2's ability to handle heavier loads. The load lifters are sewed in at too low of an angle for my torso length and weren't able to help transfer weight to my hips...my shoulders ended up carrying most of the weight.

But it's great for carrying a tree stand, and misc gear/clothes.

I am using an MR crewcab for a similar role. I have two hiking trips and some scouting with mine. Handles a load. Can strap on a stand. Compresses down to a day pack when needed.

I just attach the tree stand directly to the kifaru duplex frame and use a lid to carry every thing else I need. I hunt public ground and carry in and out every hunt. when I get to the tree just remove the climbing stick attach the bottom 2 and hang the other 2 off my harness leave my bow and the lid on the ground with a pull up rope attached throw the stand on my back and start climbing. I leave the stand and frame attached while in the tree.

I think I'm leaning towards going with a decent frame for hauling my stand during the ND trip, and then adding a bag to it for my elk trip.

The Eberlestock Mainframe caught my eye, but I haven't found a ton of reviews on it. I assume the weight of my stand and sticks would be fine, but how does that frame handle a quarter of elk? The Kifaru duplex seems to be a popular choice too. What do those or something comparable tend to run used?

I've seen the last generation Duplex go for 200to250 range on the classifieds, that's Just the frame. Closer it gets to elk season which is where we are now, they could ramp up in price.

Kifaru frames plus the K clip straps as mentioned work awesome, no grab-it needed. Loop straps through the stand on both sides and it isn't going anywhere. The downsides of this setup are if you have winter clothing in the pack you have to compress it down really well to make sure the stand stays snug if clothing load shifts. Was only an issue once. Second downside is you can't access the bag really with stand on it so anything you might need should be placed in a belt pouch or lid.

Good luck.

Changed plans completely. I kind of liked how a stand rode with my old spike camp (that I never should have sold). So I ordered a 14'r instead.

So back to the grab it and strap system, with the bag stuffed full of cloths.

I kind of changed gears and am looking at the Mystery Ranch Metcalf and EXO 3500 too. Luckily I have a little bit of time to decide.

Thanks for all the responses. I definitely appreciate the help.
