I am happy to be here as a sponsor and here to answer any questions.
1. Elk Finder helps narrow big country into higher-probability areas based on habitat overlap: feed/moisture, bedding cover, slope, access/pressure, and fire/clearcut disturbance.
I'm working on adding aspect (North, Northeast).
2. Demo video + sample map are a top priority.
3. It is built from elk behavior first, not generic mapping features.
I'm not trying to replace the mapping tools we all use. I am trying to answer: "Where should I start looking?"
4. I built it because I had the same problem.
I drew an out-of-state New Mexico elk tag in 2020 and I know how it feels to start e-scouting months ahead of time, and place dozens of waypoints in onX in areas that "look good".
Elk Finder is meant to reduce wasted scouting time. Most of us balance coveted vacation days with family and hunting, and even taking one week off to hunt elk feels so little and we want to make the best use of our time in getting on elk as fast as possible.
5. Early access means user feedback matters.
This is exactly why I launched it here first. I want serious hunters to help shape what is useful and what can be improved. I am open to any feedback, criticism, and feature requests.
