I use it on my gravel driveways

I may try that on some wild blackberries which seem to be impossible to kill. Roundup+Crossbow has worked fairly well.

a thick layer (~4" minimum and more the merrier) of mulch such as straw or woodchips at the beginning of the season will suppress the weeds, retain moisture in the soil, breakdown slowly into Soil organic matter, support beneficial soil biology and while I suppose there could be some cons, nothing near the ill effects of herbicides on your garden and your health

I till and pull weeds in my garden or cut them off with a hoe.

Spent a few years as a full time "gardener" selling direct to consumers. I did spend a good bit of time spreading mulch, but very little time weeding. Also can ditch the tilling, use a broadfork for a couple of years, leave as much root mass in the soil after harvests and after that you can dig holes with your bare hands...
