Weatherby vanguard build

How do you feel about the carbon block instead of pillars? Do they give you a torque spec? Is there fore-end flex?

I have been back and forth on ordering one. I probably would have already but they said the warranty is voided if I shorten the LOP for the kids' rifle. I thought the blue color would look pretty neat. The customer service has been awesome, even answering emails on the weekends for some wacky reason.
Not sure yet. I do worry, but carbon fiber should be stronger than aluminum pillars or blocks. I did not see torque specs, but I will confirm before final assembly. Very little flex.

I love the feel of it. The stock feels narrow/slim (that’s why I took a picture from behind to give everyone a view)and just fits me better. On top of that it is a pound lighter than the McMillan.

Stockys said that you do not need to bed the action, and it does have a snug fit.
Thank for the feedback, makes me feel better about wait forever on the stock! Just hope it’s here in plenty of time before season to get it switched over and sighted in.

With todays lead times I’m gonna have to wait on a new barrel, afraid it wouldn’t be here before august

I have a savage I sent to OMR. He turned down the factory barrel and wrapped it. It has been an amazing shooter.

Is there enough space to cut 1.5" off the butt without hitting or cutting off the rear sling stud?

Yes you can cut that much off. The rear sling stud is just held in with epoxy. Mine screwed right out. I don’t use a sling.

Update!!

Finally got the correct height rings!! Hope to do final assembly and make a trip to the range. I have 40 rounds built and ready. Sorry for all the pictures but I figured it a good way to document everything!

Stumbled on your thread, ironically I am building an almost identical rifle. Really enjoyed reading through, thanks for sharing!

Sweet setup! I like that gun case a lot! I have a skb bow case but I think it’s too short to convert.

If anybody is doing a similar build and decides to go with OMR, do your research first.

I’m working on a similar build trying to decide on barrel right now. OP seems to like OMR, have you not had good experience?

May just get a proof and have it done at a local smith since the pricing will come out to the same as the pre-fit carbons I’ve seen

I had a horrible experience. He’s a terrible gunsmith, I know of multiple people, a couple on here, that also had bad experiences with Lee and Oregon mountain rifles. His barrels seem to shoot (he doesn’t make the barrels), but good chance you’ll have issues elsewhere…multiple issues. You can search on here and find the thread I made about him. It’s very in depth with pictures and he even responded on the thread and didn’t deny any of the issues I brought up. If you can’t find the thread PM me and I’ll shoot it over. I don’t want to derail this thread too much.
