Are you going to hire an outfitter with hounds? I've always thought about how I would hunt that tag when I unexpectedly draw as well.Wasn’t expecting this one at all.View attachment 1074613

Good lord that’s almost as tough as a sheep tag 1/2 of 1% odds. After 15 years drew a Non-Res Archery Elk in 161-164, 171-173. Never thought I'd have a chance. I was already planning to throw in for Idaho since fall was looking empty! Hope everyone has a great season filled with adventures this year!!!

Thanks! Ya, after researching a bit I did book with Cary Jellison (G&J Outdoor’s) I’ve been with him as an extra on a couple of my dads hunts in the past and his guides and him do a stellar job. I love diy but for this hunt/my limited time/logistics for pack animals I felt it was the best route. First guided trip of my life, no matter what it’ll be a fun adventure. That’s a great tag! Congratulations!!! Wilderness, horse back hunt would be my choice if I drew that. NV has had that hunt scheduled the last half of the September for archery a couple of times but that slot in now muzzleloader, but I hope if reverts back to archery. There’s some high country in the wilderness and the bulls will still be bugling the last 7-10 days. Good luck!
DM sent.Drew the only NR archery elk tag in 62, 64, 66, 68. August 16th will be here before I know it. Never hunted elk outside of the rut so I have a lot to learn. If anyone has any knowledge of this area in the Independence and Tuscarora ranges I would love to chat.
