Weatherby Muzzleloader

The local gun store had one today when I stopped in.It is a lot lighter than I expected. It felt good in the hands and would be perfect shooting off a bipod.2500.00 is a lot of money for a muzzleloader but I am impressed with the fit and finish.

Tracker12 I understand what you are saying but people pay a lot of money for things they don't need.I see people all the time with jacked up 4x4 4 door jeeps that never get off the hwy.To each their own I guess.

Alright, one of the CVA Paramount Pro owners who is supposed to stop using his rifle. Have a New Mexico elk hunt in October and need to find a replacement soon. CVA hasn't returned emails or answered the phone. Been on hold or in que for days. Is this worth the extra $ to get it in hand to zero and practice or wait to maybe find out and answer from CVA?

Looking for other options, love to hear a few suggestions. Talked to Arrowhead, have two that will be built and ready in three weeks. Carbon fiber but price tag is over 7k. Spoke to McWhorter, again have a few on the shelf, closer to 6k. I hunt mzl season in Virginia every year. Have consistent shots available out to 300yds so there could be long term good use. 2-3K is about max spend I think.
I appreciate it.

Uhh…no….lol
Yes buy a CVA V3 takedown in a 45/70
and send it to Jeff Hankins. I have two and they shoot lights out. 250gr bullet 2750 fps.
He will even set it up for open sites. $1000 you can’t beat them.

Thank you. I’ll reach out. Curious if he could meet the timeline. Hoping to have hands on in a couple weeks in order to get enough range time with it.

Just about any decent modern inline with the right load is good to 300 yards…

But for the money I’d look at Woodman Arms. No reason to send more than $1000 ish dollars unless you’re shooting 600+ yards.

Woodman has a 20-50 week lead time. Ouch. I have my old Thompson Omega from the mid 2000’s. Could go old school and it’s lightweight. Still like the notion of big trip = get new modern gear. Thanks for the guidance.

An indication of the quality.

If you have an Omega I’d look at their Omega barrels. Super charges your OEM Omega!

Woodmans are out in the wild since this spring in New England. MR guns has one (carbine unfortunately) on gunbroker right now. I bought one from Kittery Trading Post this year over the internet. I just saw a pile of them at Rack and Reel Sporting goods in New Haven VT. Give them a call. They sell a lot on gunbroker and wouldn't be weird about it. They seem to run just under 1200. Unfortunately, most they order out here are carbines.

You could also search facebook for it. Gun stores out here usually put up when they get a shipment.

I bought a .50 and have a .45 cut barrel on order. My .50 barrel has some loose spots, so IDK if it will shoot thors, but I'm going to try. I emailed them with a load question, but never got a response. I've read people complain some about their customer service. I also ordered a 1 inch mount from them, but got a 30. The 30's cost more and I was going to order one later, so I just kept it.

I haven't even shot it yet and I'm using it for a hunt this fall. I have another gun I'm finishing up a load for and then I'll move my load development scope over to it. I will say, it's really light and is going to kick. If I remember right, my 9.3 shoots 250s around 2600 with 60 grains of varget and that's in a 7.5lb set up. I'm telling myself it's going to be similar, but I know it's not.

Do you have a TC Encore? Arrowhead has barrels that are rated for smokeless power and he said that are moa out to 300 yards.prices are 1200-2200.Good luck.
