Weather in Pegosa Springs Area

OK, I was thinking about taking the wife to Pegosa Springs area for a hiking backpack trip, but after checking the weather, it is calling for a 40% chance of thunderstorms. Is this area prone to getting bad storms and should 40% T-Storms scare me off? Thanks for any advise.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the mountains in the the summer.
