Waterfowl dog vest

I need a new neoprene waterfowl vest for my lab. Looking for the best one… I was told about MoMarsh, but the zipper is a fail point and seems to be the big issue with that one. Is there a universally accepted “best” or gold standard? Thanks.

Avery boater dog vest has been my go to for 20 years and 3 dogs.

I use a MoMarch its a 2-3 year vest. I only use mine when its really cold, they dont need em all the time.

The momarsh ones seem to be pretty popular around here, I’m not sure if it’s because they are good or because they come in designer camo. The best one I ever had was made by Banded. It never failed, was durable, and my dog seemed to like it.

Avery’s are good, but you’ll likely have to cut and modify the fit. I have had good luck with the Carhartt dog vest for my lab and have an old Cabela’s vest that fits great on my Chessie. Both have a wide Velcro strip on the top for adjustment.

I used to use Avery and really liked them. I switched to MoMarsh a few years ago and haven’t had problems with the zipper. I might like Avery more but the adjustability of the MoMarsh makes it easy to use on different size dogs.

Avery Sporting Dog Boaters Vest has been the standard since I started guiding duck hunts about 20 years ago, and we still use them on all the hunting labs in the family. I usually will custom cut them around the front shoulders to keep them from rubbing, they are sized/fitted for athletic dogs for sure though. I've destroyed more than one in extreme use cases (50+ day seasons, barbed wire, etc...) but otherwise they have been great.

The inside of the chest area also has the symptoms of canine hypothermia and relevant body temperatures which I know saved at least one of my dogs' life on a cold & rainy January day about 15 years ago, for which I will forever be indebted to the person who made the call to put it there.

I have one from scheels and another that I think is Avery, had to cut both quite a bit to get them to fit my dogs, they’ve both held up ok, but have some tears and loose stitching. A little while ago I saw a three piece one made by dive bomb industries that looks interesting since it should be more adjustable but I don’t have any actual experience experience with it.

I use the momarsh had the guy in town here put a better zipper on when it broke for 10 dollars the i like how i can adjust the fit easy. Seen the divebomb one and it also looks pretty good.

two or three years i think got it when he was 9 months old and fixed it a year ago and he is five now. I put alot of stress on that zipper as a loose fitting vest is worse than no vest
