Vortex Viper 3-9x40

I've seen some Viper 3-9x40 scopes around online selling new for close to $200. As far a simple variable scopes go, how do these hold up against the competition? I've never been super impressed with the diamondbacks, wondering if these are a better Vortex product.

I have two of these I bought on sale probably 9 or 10 years ago from Natchez SS. I had one on a .450 bushmaster single shot and that combo was good out to 200 yards on whitetails. The other one is on a BCM 16" AR that I use for woodchucks and the like out to 150 yards. I have an older Bushnell Elite 3500 3-9 x 40 that I'd say is comparable in terms of clarity, eyebox, and low light performance. I don't know if the newer ones are made/spec'd differently than the older ones, but mine have been worth the money and are better quality than the diamondback for sure.
