Vortex Question

The list had the Vipers ahead of the Razors. Vipers are a good set of glass for the money, but they aren't Razors. What a flawed analysis.

I'm trying help you understand the market, and make best use of your hard earned money.

Grasping the "value" of brand recognition marketing vs quality is the consumers responsibility...Bushnell, Weaver, Simmons, Steiner and many others got away with it for years.

I'll just move on, and let you guys have at it.

But with nowhere near the same warranty, so not a great comparison.

Really pretty sure the Vanguard Endeavor line has a lifetime no fault, it did when I had mine but haven't looked in a while.

Yup still the same as Vortex, from Vanguards website:

“3) The Razor isn't that good of a scope”

“Yes I can, but it's not according to me...testing is done by experts, plainly stating the optics performance in clear numerical terms...not fanboys justifying the money they spent.”

Would you happen to have any links to substantiate the comments above? Below are a couple of links to reviews, done by others, who do not appear to be “fanboys”….

Best Resolution 2009 - Kowa Prominar 88mm - by Michael and Diane Porter
Chart of High-end Spotting Scopes, 2009

Granted, the above review is from 2009 and many newer spotting scopes have hit the market since, but when the Vortex Razor spotting scope was put up against several of the best, most expensive optics in the world – with a couple of the models reviewed in 2009 still available in 2017, Bird Watcher’s Digest had the following to say: “It's worth noting that the next-highest-scoring five scopes on resolution — Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski, Vortex, and the 77mm Kowa — scored so close to each other that it required 100x magnification to rank them. We believe that the resolution differences between these scopes would not often be discernible in the field. But it's nice to know you have the sharpest spotting scope in the world.”

anyone can argue as much as they want, truth is in the user's eyes and perception - Vortex does have a lot of warranty history in comparison but maybe you'll dispute that too, because it differs with your "perception" - I'll take the word of a fellow hunters' review over a bird watcher any day ...

When "Vanguard optics" are entered into the discussions they sure seem to garner a whole bunch of praise, particularly when comparisons are with "Vortex", just seems that way

What ... you have a problem with another's informed or experienced opinion if it differs from yours ?? imagine that ...

Not at all, but I won't hesitate to call someone out who seems to be extremely obnoxious and acts like their opinion trumps all.

twice now I've stood near the optics counter in a SW and listened to 2 different "clerks" tell shoppers that Vortex scopes are " much" better than Leupold scopes and Vortex CS is hands down the best in the industry - B.S. ... B.S. ... B.S. ...
Vortex guarantee should read "the best warranty in the industry and guaranteed that you will use it" -

Your right, I couldn't find that warranty the first time around, and still struggled to find it the second time.

And it should be noted that this warranty only applies to selected items.

Yeah but we are talking the top of both lines (Vanguard is still cheaper then the vortex viper line), the rest doesn't matter. By all means Vortex is good stuff but others have caught up and now vortex imo is very over priced. But if you like it and their warranty is the main deciding factor you will not be disappointed, just be prepared to use it.

Oh and just so you know, in the current Vanguard spotter lines, they all are covered by the no fault warranty but they have a much smaller selection of better quality for your dollar compared to Vortex.

I was trying to help you make a good decision on your purchase, obviously you preferred childish behavior and snide remarks instead...you continue to throw insults.

Most all mfg's today, from mid to alpha class offer extended/lifetime warranties...it's nothing new, it smart marketing that benefits the consumer. Just so the mfg. continues to stock the parts, or else instead of repairing they can offer a cheap new replacement at their discretion(read small print).

With the majority of mid-class optics being outsourced to Japan/China/Phillipines to lower costs for competitive retail, parts supplies will/are lowered to keep costs down. This due to the "new" models being introduced every 2 years or so, for that's what's drives the market...new models.

You need to understand the game to be a player, or instead you're just a pawn in the game.

Best wishes and good hunting

Is vortex the new Kuiu? I can't seem to understand why folks have such a hard time hearing that another person likes a brand of something they don't use. I'm willing to bet 90% of the folks on this forum spend less than 30 nights a year in the woods using their "top rated" products. I don't know how the trappers and pioneers every got along and made their way with out Kifaru packs, First Lite clothing and Swarovski optics. They had muzzleloader not kimber rifles and no rangefinders. If most of you spent the amount of time actually using your gear instead of talking about it, we'd all be a lot happier.

Yeah but then there would be no forums.

I want to check this spotter out. Nothing but excellent reviews and for what looks like a great price. Definitely gonna check it out.
