Vivo forest tracker esc durability

What did you use the clean them before applying? I actually have shoegoo already, but was going to order the Aquaseal SR
I personally haven't had much luck with Shoe Goo in the past - it hasn't been very robust, and peeled off easily. I haven't used other products, but I'd personally be looking at other options first before Shoe Goo.

I'm experiencing that right now on another pair. That is why I'm going to try that aqualseal on the ESC's (unless there's something better.

There was another one used originally in this thread called Barge cement. I'm not sure which type and if they used anything else. I seem to remember maybe they used something first on the outsole to give the cement something to adhere to due to the type of rubber compound.

I know I emailed vivo and aquaseal to ensure the two were compatible and they are.

Sand, degreaser (I used acetone), apply

Question for the collective… What are y’all doing to attach gaiters? More specifically, the front of my gaiters has a hook to engage with boot laces, but this lands well beyond where the laces start on the Vivo Trackers. I wore them once, hooked to nothing, but it looks like there will be a wear / rubbing issue if done this way regularly.

My peax gaiters hooked to the laces just fine

The updated OR Crocodiles works really well with the Vivos. I posted some pics earlier in this thread. They are still my favorite gaiter. Been using them since the 90s. The new version is designed to work with lower volume footwear.

I wear a different Vivo but the laces end in the same place, my gaiter walks around in front a bit but has been a non issue, I may attach a piece of stretch cord to hold them in place but not sure how without looking at them?

I looked at your pictures as I too have OR Crocodiles. I bought mine in late 2024.
The lower hook design is definitely different than yours, with the hook going down over vs up under the laces.
With a little further fidgeting, I seem to have found a suitable way to connect them. I needed to insert the lace in the hook then fold it in between the layers of Velcro to protect the leather from the hook. Maybe the way it was supposed to be done all along. 🤷‍♂️

Field testing to follow.
Thanks. IMG_2175.jpegIMG_2176.jpegIMG_2177.jpeg

Hmm. Shame that OR have changed to a 'down over' design ... I've found that that can damage boot leather. Good idea to protect it.

A little poking around seems to show that @ElPollo has the current iteration of their design. Hook up
Mine must be an older design. IDK, I bought them in Nov 2024 from Backcountry.

Currently wearing them with gaiters. Lots of days afield like this and no damage specific to the hooks, but this set is pretty beat in general.

Someone else mentioned it on here but Kahtoola makes a pair that works well with these boots. The strap that goes under the boot seems to be less of a problem and I haven't had an issue with the lace hook. Past season models are on sale for about $40 right now.
