Vivo forest tracker esc durability

Thank you all for this thread! My wife has been doing barefoot shoes for 2 years and tried to get me to convert and after reading this thread twice I made the jump. I have countless foot/ankle injuries from playing sports and thought I would have issues forever. About 6 months in trainers and the bone spurs on the top of my feet are already a third of what they were and my ankles don’t ache after a hike. I picked up the tracker forest esc and did the aqua seal SR right away (thank you for those that shared the tip) which helps as I hunt in a lot of wet conditions. I am beating a dead horse but these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. This changed my mobility forever but boy it’s gonna be expensive to change over all my footwear to barefoot style now, I can’t wear regular shoes or they hurt real bad lol

Anyone else having issues ordering from Vivo? Want to order another pair of the Forest ESCs in EU size 42 because they are showing back in stock after being out for months. Every time I select that size and put it in my cart, my cart says I’m buying a US size 9. Seems to swap all EU sizes for a smaller US size and they don’t make US half sizes. Their chat bot help system is as helpful as tits on a boar hog. I reached out via email, and their response was equally unhelpful. They seem to have done away with a customer support phone number. This is not the same experience I had buying from them previously.

You may try clearing all of your internet browsers cookies. When you log back in try not selecting that you’re in the US.

My other suggestion would be to use a VPN where you can select your location (somewhere other than US).

Not sure if this is the actual issue but that’s where I’d probably start.

Tried clearing cookies in multiple browsers and multiple machines. The Vivo website does this with all EU sizes. Their customer support emailed back with something about their website not showing stock in real time. That’s not the issue. It appears EU sizes may no longer be available on this side of the pond. Point is, if you are trying to order an EU size, check your bag on the website before you order. You may end up with something that doesn’t fit.

Try the live chat where you actually get a human. I also had zero luck with their email.

I ordered a pair of desert ESCs in a EU 45 size a few days ago and did not have any issues. They shipped USPS out of Ohio, which last time I ordered they came through DHL from the UK.

According to Vivo’s website, the EU 42 is a US 9.

Out of curiosity, what is everyone wearing for training hikes on trails? I don’t want to wear out my boots to just train but kind of want something a little beefier than my barefoot sneakers. Been using some Xero hikers but they are falling apart and wondering if there’s something better out there.

I’ve had no issues with my Vivos breaking down from training hikes. But I’ll hike around in some Altra Lone Peaks with up to 70lbs in my pack. It really only helps strengthen your lower legs.

Do not read that as a recommendation, more of what’s possible.

I wouldn’t worry about wearing out the Vivo’s from training hikes. In my opinion they’re very durable. You’ll probably save money just using the Vivo’s and not wearing out Xero’s or Altra’s constantly.

I agree. I probably have over 600 miles on mine, mostly training hikes/rucking and they are wearing well.

The Vivo Forrest ESCs are fine for training hikes. I'm a little over 2 years on my first set and they will need replacing by end of year due to the tread wear, but they've been on many long hunts, heavy packouts, tons of training hikes, backpacking, yardwork, etc. Used multiple days almost every week.

The Forest ESC soles in particular are really durable compared to Xeros and Altras. There’s no foam to compress and the rubber sole is much more durable. I’m a year into a pair that I am wearing daily and the wear on the soles is nothing compared to what you see with these other brands. I did not like the stack height on those brands. Felt a lack of control sidehilling. That stack also crushed down irregularly and wore out quickly. I tend to walk on the outside of my feet, so I would crush the outsides first and my feet would slide to the outside. I don’t have that issue with the Vivos due to the low stack height. It does take some time to get used to not having the cushion under your feet. But once you do you will likely hate going back to anything with a high stack.
