Dawn dish soap and hydrogen peroxide is what the vet uses for the smell.

We drove my brother-in-law’s jeep back for him while he went on his honeymoon for two weeks. Don’t ask me why I thought gas station Chinese food sounded like a good idea, but after one bite I realized I had made a mistake. I swear I didn’t intentionally leave it in his car. Second on Natures miracle spray. Works amazing on skunk and pee…. Had a cat that did the same to me…but on my hunting clothes I spread out for a hunt. Cat is no more….

Enzyme spray like Natures Miracle. May take multiple treatments

The enzyme in Natures Miracle is just isopropyl alcohol. Honestly, alcohol hand sanitizer gel works 100x better. My first dog was sprayed by skunks more than 50 times in his life and subsequent dogs have at least equaled him in total. I gave up on Natures Miracle years ago because it evaporates too fast. The gel stays in place and breaks down the oils better. I usually usually use dawn dish detergent (another great emulsifier) after leaving the hand sanitizer gel on the dog for 5-10 minutes. After that, my wife often doesn’t even notice the dogs killed another “kitty with racing stripes”. That said, neither will work on cat pee because the smell does not come from oils like skunk spray.

My suggestion is to A) try the CLO2 stuff, and B) get a GWP or drathaar puppy. Your wife will love it. But as it grows up, it’ll guarantee she never gets another cat. They are snuggly, blood-thirsty killers.
