My guide suggested I bring vel-cro knee pads, leather gloves and gaiters. I have narrowed the gaiters down and will pick up a pair of gloves after I make sure they fit well. Any recommendations on Vel-cro knee pads? There are a lot of them to see on the web.

Interested in what people may be using as well. I have been thinking about getting some volleyball knee pads, because they seem like they would be more comfortable for hiking around in.

Arcteryx knee pads are easily the best ones around. They are expensive though.

Why not pants with a pad pocket? I usually wear Kryptek and like their pad, but I'm sure most are similar for this style. Once you've started wearing them all the time, you realize you shoulda been all along.

Look 5.11 knee pads. They are less expensive than dead bird. Also, look at rector or pro-tec skateboard knee pads.
