Vasectomy

So, if I were to have sex with my post-menopausal wife, God hates that?
Not at all, menopause is natural biology. Viewed the same as any couple that may not be able to conceive for fertility reasons

Does that perspective not just reduce a womans worth to be nothing more than a baby maker?
Seems pretty much like treating her as breeding livestock.......

Having sex for pleasure with a long term partner/wife is not, nor should it ever be seen as a problem. To think otherwise is just absurd.
I understand the misconception. But no, sex is irreplaceable bonding with your husband or wife, and there is nothing "wrong" at all with enjoying it. It is literally designed to be enjoying. And no, I am not suggesting that any sex without conception is bad or that all sex must be TRYING to conceive

The point is that sex should not be treated like a tool for our pleasure. Such as artificially removing the procreative aspects to enjoy it "unhindered" with responsibility

One of the mothers of a girl in my son's class told my wife that the Dr let her snip her husband lol!!! Not sure I'd want my wife doing that. She already won't give me sympathy after having 3 kids for us.

I am 42 and just had mine reversed! They definitely knocked me out for it this time. Getting it the doctor asked if I wanted to see what he was doing! NO THANK YOU! Recovery was twice as long but that's probably cause I'm almost 10 years older

So you are saying that birth control pills, tubal ligation, condoms, etc are also bad? I think you're misinterpreting scripture. There's no responsibility/accountability involved between husband and wife, they're allowed to have sex for pleasure.

Grew up Catholic but I got over it. I think Catholics can’t practice contraception.

Had mine Feb 5th. One side took 45 sec the other took 31 mins. . Sent first test off after 3 months 29,000 per ml. Sent the 2nd off a few weeks ago 69,000 per ml.

EDITED: Thats an oversimplificstion. More like: one's priorities are likely disordered

"Responsibility" in my comment referred to the responsibility of raising a child, nothing more. The scripture part is beyond anyone's ability to type over an internet forum

So when is the second procedure scheduled for?

What made it so much harder on the second one?

Apparently this is normal for some. So now a wait and send another one off. We will see. He said something about the tube or whatever on that side was twisted or entangled up. It was freaking painful. I told him he was going to have to shoot more numbing shots in there.

Had mine done in January... it was pretty rough. Apparently, I'm highly resistant to Lidocaine because I had well over 10 shots (stopped counting around 12) and still felt almost everything. The incision, clamp, cut, and worst of all, the cauterization (both sides felt like a lightning bolt through my body). I sweated through my clothes and bed sheets, nearly puked mid surgery, and couldn't stop shaking for over an hour (surgery was also with laughing gas). Recovery time was pretty rough. I was in pretty bad pain for about 3-4 weeks (like no physical activity outside of walking) and 5 months out, I still ache a decent bit (tho less and less) and have had to change my underwear style etc. to accommodate (boxers are a thing of the past lol).

Fortunately, was cleared after 8 weeks/20 times and the wife is grateful.

If I had to do it again, 100% would have been knocked out.

So you simultaneously agree and disagree, while trying to maintain a judgemental moral high ground, while also paraphrasing from a book which also says that judgement is reserved for jesus/god depending on your particular religious flavour.

Yep, pretty much sums up my lifelong experience with various religions and their followers.
