Did it decades ago after 2nd child. At Dr office - in and out fast. Dr had a sense of humor and said a big "oops!" while he was doing it so that was a big distraction for me! Did on Friday, back to work Monday.

I’ll go first. My wife (35) just had her IUD removed. I need to get snipped so I can commence to shoot up the club as my pull out game is weak and with no goalie in place, I don’t need to have another kid at my age. I am 40 (almost 41) and too old for that.

I was told that they don’t put you under for the procedure. Is this true? How bad is it? What’s the recovery like? I was also told that the first “eruption” may be bloody. Don’t know if my buddy is messing with me, so thought I should ask the masses.

From what I've heard, they don't put you under. Just numb you up but you are plenty sore afterwards... That's why just before March madness is the busiest time of the year for these! So you can go sit on your butt a couple of days and watch basketball!

I've had it done twice. First time didn't take apparently. I really suggest the follow up testing. Doc seemed a little embarrassed, and made a point of saying "I'm doing everything the same, just to the extreme". Insisted that I watch, listen, smell, etc. Second time took. Not my favorite experience.

I get out of probation soon. Had mine done a couple months ago.
The procedure was easy. Recovery for me took about 3 weeks.

I am an outlier, in that, I had my vasectomy at 28. I am now 45 going on 46. Most painless outpatient experience ever with a relatively short recovery time.

Well had it done this morning. So far hasn’t been bad at all. Just a slight ache.

We will see how long before I can get back in the treestand!

Just keep ice on the goods all day and take the prescribed pain meds (…assuming you were prescribed Vicodin like I was) if/when needed; I didn’t need the meds. Lastly, make sure you do take the sterility tests after the prescribed timeframe and/or releases have been achieved. I had a partner at work have his vasectomy performed at Kaiser and the urologist didn’t even sever the right side vas deferens, resulting in a surprise pregnancy.

You got Vicodin prescribed? All I got was, “Do you have Tylenol or ibuprofen at home? Good, take that as necessary.” (It wasn’t necessary).

I would heed your Doctor’s orders. Most of the horror stories I heard were from guys being active too soon aka lots of swelling. I never went outside for the first 36 hours. It was bear season for me, but the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze.

When you're feeling better in a day or two and you have cabin fever, fight the urge to get out and over do it. That was my biggest mistake and all I did was walk around Cabela's.

Just saw this. As stated right above, DO NOT get confident and overdue it. I had a buddy overdue it and it was bad.

And DO NOT send rounds down range at the target until you know their empty rounds.

Hard to believe it’s 30 pages and a 3 year old thread on how to get “ snipped”. I’ll tell you my experience from 22 years ago.
I walked in to the Dr. and put my feet in the stirrups like a champ. He froze my nuts and then In walked the smokin hot nurse. I thought to myself “ gawd I hope she don’t look down there, lots of shrinkage happening”. She looked. When the Dr started to pull and snip it felt like they were attached to my tonsils.
The nurse asked if it hurt and I could only grit my teeth and nod she said “Dr I think he needs more freezing”. Gave me some more freezing and finished the job.
The Dr said go down stairs to the pharmacy and get this prescription filled and get your self a jock strap to hold the boys for a few days.
I went to the pharmacy and there was a very long line up. I was standing there and the freezing started to come out. I felt a cold sweat come over me then I passed out. I woke up a minute later and the pharmacist was standing over me asking if I was ok. He sat me on a chair in the middle of the pharmacy and told me to keep my head down between my knees. After about a half hour I felt alright, painkillers had kicked in and I had gone into the washroom and put the jock strap on.
I came home and laid on the couch with a frozen bag of green giant peas on my nads. That night at bed time crap started going through my head wondering if the Dr had done a good job and had cut the right stuff. Wondering “is this thing still going to work”. So I had to do what any guy would do and said to my wife “ sweety we need to make sure it’s not broken” she obliged. Well I think there might have been a little too much slapping cause the next day the left one was almost the size of a grapefruit.
Back to the hospital where they put me on anti inflammatories and tramecet and told me not to use it for 2 weeks.
I wore that jock strap for the next month.
